Adjustment of Status and Health Insurance

My wife arrived in the U.S. in Ocober and we were married on Dec 7 and filed for AOS in Dec 22. We went to Nashville, TN Jan 24 for her biometric appointment. Today we got a letter that our case may be a potential interview waiver but also may have a delay for 6 months.

The problem we are running into is us being able to get a drivers license or health insurance. Does anyone know if she can get health insurance or drivers license before the green card if it is going to be another 6 months?

In most states you can obtain a driver's licence using an EAD.

You have nothing to lose by trying to get her health insurance. Hopefully, all you will need is a SSN. Since I don't know the laws/rules in Tenn. you may have to wait until you gal gets either the EAD or 2-yr GC, or Combo card, to get a DL. My gal, in Georgia, chose to wait until she got her GC so I can't tell you if the EAD would have worked for her to get a DL.

Here in TX i can get a drivers license with my EAD and SS#. Check your states requirements.

i think u can already add her on your insurance long as she have ssn number already

You can usually get a D with a valid EAD. As others have said, check your state's requirements.

As for health insurance, why did you not enroll her in your insurance after you got married? Does she have an SSN? A wedding is one of those life events that qualify for enrollment outside of the open enrollment period. Even without that, she should be able to get some insurance coverage - during the period that I was here on my K1 visa before the wedding, I used a short term health insurance that did not even require an SSN (HCC STM). Worked out just fine.
