Here is my draft of a response to the lawyers response, along with my original email. I haven't sent it yet. I may never send it. He also said that if I question him one more time that he will cancel his services with me if I think I can do his job. Please help guys! What should I do? I don't care about the money I lost with the lawyer, he is a total douche.

XXXX LAWYER,

Are you saying that if I needed you to double check some of the documents we currently have you will not do so until you are contacted by immigration?

That may be a problem because if we would have reviewed what I had ready before we were ready to, we would have been able to catch the translations and documents had errors. If we would have caught that early, we would have not delayed the process unnecessarily 2 months.

Would you like to review what we have? Not sure if you remember, but we had to overnight documents back and forth because you and I were not on the same page. There were some misunderstandings, as I'm sure is totally normal when not having a dynamic conversation and just given a list with little explanation.

When I don't understand what the list is saying, how can I know what to prepare?

I guess it is my fault for giving you the full payment in good faith, rather than separating the payments in two. I didn't realize that I would be speaking with you more before I hired you than after I hired you.

It's really disappointing.

Evan

Evan,
As previously discussed when immigration is ready to move forward with the next step of your case, I will contact you. I have already provided you the checklist of documents you need as a courtesy beforehand. If you wish for me to provide a different level or service and/or expedite the processing of your case (I cannot expedite the government's processing of your case) there will be additional fees. Otherwise, I will contact you when immigration contacts me and is ready to proceed. Any questions you have pertaining to the evidence required I will answer at that point.

XXXX LAWYER

XXXX LAWYER,

How's it going?

We are starting the process with the NVC and I'd like to talk to you
regarding what will be happening.

We have exchanged a few emails, but there is nothing comparable to a
phone conversation to outline what I can be doing now and what needs
to be done in the near future.

I have the documents together, but I don't know what is happening with
the process and I don't want to lose any time.

Would you be able to give me a call today to discuss what you need
from me and answer a few questions that I have prepared?

I know you said you wouldn't talk to me until after we mail in the
first packet. Well, we are past that point and I'd like to talk to
you now. It wont take up too much of your time.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Evan

I have a lawyer and he is not responding to my requests to talk to him on the phone. We just got noa2 a few weeks ago, I'm going to call nvc and see if they received our case and try to get a case number.

I think I'd like to fire the lawyer but I don't want him to Jack things up for us. Is there a way to get him off of the case without messing things up?

Some questions I have :

I will be thoroughly studying the nvc wiki by Saylin, but I just found out about it and maybe some of my questions are answered there. If not, here they are:

It sounds like you will absolutely get through the process faster if you do it alone. The lawyer's decision to wait for NVC's communications before making a move will set you back by weeks at the very least. With the resources on VJ you can absolutely manage the process alone, which seems to me a better option than paying this guy more money to actually be proactive with your case.

PCC issued in India will not have the following

1. Married or single status

2. Address of residence

To save your self a lot of issues, you can simply try to apply for PCC as single .

You have to give a reason there and they don't move forward with the process until you provide an updated Passport. What should we do?

OH MY! I really do not know what to say. I called again the NVC (calling everyday as usual). The previous NVC agents that answered my calls said that the AOS form that our lawyer sent was already received but not our civil docs. So I called again today, the NVC agent said the AOS was completed last March 26, what about the checklist we received last March 27. That's why we corrected the form and sent to them. But our lawyer sent the form and the original documents last April 1 by regular mail. And now we do not know how we can detect where our docs are. T_T Our lawyer really put us in a bad position, emotionally and mentally. Very selfish.

That is correct. Last week I was able to reach someone at NVC and found out they have started processing my AOS package. Haven't been able to talk to anyone @NVC since then to get any updates. Hoping to call them tomorrow and find out if AOS has been approved. Keeping our fingers crossed for no checklist (real or fake) for AOS.

I am sure you'll get a case complete before us, so I am going to be closely following your case. Ours is Mumbai too. Please keep us informed if there is any progress. BTW, did you submit your original PCC to NVC or are you taking it with you to the Interview?

I understand how you feel. I and my husband are really upset with our lawyer. He is giving us poor treatment and he asked for a very high fee and in cash we paid him. I still try not say anything to offend him but I made an email telling him what he should have done to make our case move faster. I did almost everything, what he did is sent the docs. I did the follow up and informed him abt the updates. Wasn't he ashamed of it. I knew the updates of our case before him. I learned everything here on VJ.
