NVC Filers - April 2014

I have income from my employment in Europe (I'm the American living with my spouse), but it will not continue after I leave Europe with my spouse when he emigrates to the U.S. Should I put my annual earnings on the I-864 and explain in a continuation sheet that it's foreign-earned, or should I put "zero" and risk a check list?

I have enough cash savings to meet three times the poverty level without any earnings, so that's not a problem. I just don't want to put that I have no earnings (even though I technically do) if it's going to delay things.

Any advice?

i would definitely convert the foreign income to us dollars and list that on i864 plus an explanation sheet and wont hurt to get prove of your cash savings. did you declare foreign income on your american taxes?

I received a reply from my attorney( on the receipt email from paying one of the fees).. He writes "Jen, I thought you were going for the K3?"

OK, can I just tell you how annoyed I was? He didn't even know the K3 was closed. UHHHH

I wrote a very long response telling him that I mailed the docs and pictures and he should be getting them tomorrow. My goal is to get this done asap. When he mails the docs to NVC I want the tracking number. I explained that I keep track of every move. It keeps me busy. I explained the police certificate issue to him. Just incase he didn't know.

The DS260 will become available once the fees clear..... correct? Do I need to sign it or can I sign it electronically? I want to complete that thing as soon as possible. I am not leaving it up to him.

hi..i have a question regarding i864 ,,im petitioning a CR1 visa for my wife,i didn't meet the poverty requirement for the last three years but did submit all the docs needed for my house (94678$) value with no debts or mortgage,still got a check list for a joint sponsor which i don't have.i called NVC to male sure that the proof of assets is enough but they wouldn't even go there,they claim its a consulate discretion but recommended a joint sponsor!!.wonder if anyone went through something similar...any advice is appreciated.thanks

And if I recall, assets which can be liquidated within a year without undue stress are most useful, so having your primary home listed might be the issue.

You can update with Wikisend super easy. No need to join. Just upload.

I just filed my taxes, and I go to the IRS website to request a tax return transcript, and when I register with all my info I get a message saying Registration: Error

The system cannot verify your identity to access your requested application at this time.

Why is this?

My husband got the same error 3 times before it locked him out of the system for 24 hours. He is going to try again tomorrow. I don't know why it did that. Does anyone have any experience with getting IRS transcripts? Edited April 7, 2014 by CanGirl

I just looked at your timeline... your case as received at the NVC on March 17th..

I wonder why its taking so long to get a case number

Roughly how long is it taking the NVC portal to show the AOS and IV fees (I am supposed to get them the same time using a lawyer) after getting your case #?

I can log-on, but it says "not invoiced" on the AOS and the IV is blank.

Currently the DS-261 is becoming available either the next day or in a couple of days after the Case #. So my guess is you will have the DS-261 available tomorrow (Monday). The fee invoices should become available in another couple of days.

I have no idea.... possibly because I sent the same letter to all the USCIS big guys many times. I have a lawyer but I don't think that makes a difference.
