NVC finally received my case. It looks like the pony express from Nebraska finally arrived. My lawyer is putting in an expedite request because were filling out of the UAE but his work visa ends this month. Fingers crossed he doesn't have to sign another contract just to break it and pay $$$ like a month later.

Quick question guys,

If I get my father to sponsor me for my Affidavit of Support, and he lives in the same household, (in fact, he claims me as a dependent in taxes because I'm a student and don't work) should I fill out the I-864 put 0 for income and then should my father file the I-864A or I-864?

I'm assuming it's the I-864A but wanted to get a 2nd opinion

That's When you are DONE with NVC, but at NVC stage, it doesn't seem to save any time.

This is the other thing, for Chinese filers, if you don't want your whole file being sat on at Chinese customs for 1-3 months, you HAVE to do EP! If you are not in a hurry, go for paper filing.

Im quoting myself haha. I spoke to a supervisor at NVC and he said my AOS packet that I sent on March 6th was received and processed and has been approved as of March 25th which is why I received "false" checklist for the DS260 on the 27th. So apparently AOS approval and IV False checklists are correlated (I wasnt told that but based on what he said I am assuming this). So my other AOS packet submissions after March 6th are apparently being rejected not because of encryption or password protection but because the AOS is completed (again he didnt say that but i am assuming).

Congrats! Love the bad news flipping to good ones!!! It looks like victory is at hand for you! Yay!

You can call NVC until midnight Eastern Time... That would be 11:00 pm in Dallas. If you are not sure, you can always google "current time in new Hampshire" (NVC location) and remember that you can call Mon-Friday from 7:00 AM to midnight...

NVC basically refused to answer the question because it is legal advice in their eyes. They did say that if I send the wrong form they would tell me and I would just have to resend correct one....which is cool to know but I'd rather not delay the case if i send the wrong one.

What you mention is what originally madem e look at the I-864A and now I am bit split again from what previous posters said :|

I think I have better odds sending the I-864 since it's a more general form and since my father claiming me as dependant is different than me filling taxes with him. But do please post more information as I still have about 2 weeks before I have to send AOS

Hi Saylin

I have just comleted the on-line form. I couldn't do it from my iPad so jumped onto the computer to do it. I went into my timeline via settings and signature and copied and pasted the url.

Thank you and I didn't mean to say you were just 'admin'! I haven't been on these threads where you have been very much but it seems like you have done an admirable job and I am sure many people are very appreciative. I know that I have found the spreadsheet quite invaluable.
