Hi guys,

I have an AOS question:

My form got sent back to me because I had the wrong amount on line 19 (2013 adjusted gross income). I used line 37 from my 1040, but was told by NVC I should've used line 22. Also, I had money from self employment that line 22 from the 1040 doesn't include. Do I include that as well?

Thanks!

Hello Changnoi

How long did it take you for your IV fee to be fully available. Currently mine has a yellow triangle on it.

The yellow triangle appeared on March 26 at 8:15 am, on March 27 at 4:30 pm IV became payable.....

I used and definitely recommend Internet Explorer to pay it.....Payment Pending status showing......

Printed out bar-coded cover sheet...slipped it under the binder clip..in the AOS envelope....

went to FEDEX...arrived 30 minutes before the truck.....and over-night shipped it the same day........

I meant to say "slipped it under the binder clip in the IV package"

They should extend the editable time for posts a little bit.....

Reason for edit just realized I quoted myself :D

Okay I'm obsessing a little about how you said we don't have to send the police report because that's the only thing we're waiting for to send in the IV packet. We probably won't get it until next week. Who told you this? I just called US embassy here and they said we DO need to send it to the NVC. I can't call NVC until I get home today.

I talked to a woman named Gina this morning at the NVC. She checked on the computer and said Costa Rica takes the police report at the embassy. And I don't have to send it to the NVC. I asked her two more times if she was sure because my husband was planning on getting it soon. She said she was positive but now I'm second guessing what she told me because you said you called the embassy.. UGHHHHH

My husband is gonna think I'm looney because I text'd him this morning telling him he doesn't have to get it. He was happy because its a long trip to San Jose to get that stupid certificate. If I have to tell him he still needs to get it he gonna think I'm nuts.

That's the problem with NVC is you seem to get different answers :( I would go with whatever it states online, or just send to be safe.

Okay let me know what they say because that link you provided is wrong. CR is the king of misinformation.

1- You don't need an official request to get the police record, you can just go get it.

2- They're valid for 90 days, not 30

3- The lady from the embassy said you only need a new one for the interview if yours is expired (over 90 days)

If it doesn't need to go to the Casa Amarilla, ugh. Then I'll go next week and just pick one up un authenticated. Let me call the embassy in another 15 min here and ask them.

You dont need any PCC from local police station. The PCC from the passport office is more than enough.

The items required for IV package are:

  1. 2 Passport-sized photographs of the beneficiary
  2. Photocopy of the biographic data page of the beneficiary's passport
  3. Original birth certificate of the beneficiary
  4. Original marriage certificate of the beneficiary and the petitioner
  5. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary

OK, was told twice by two different reps at the NVC. ( GINA and REESE) THEY DO NOT COLLECT THE POLICE CERTIFICATE AT THE VISA CENTER. you take the checklist and the request from the Visa Center and that is what he needs to get the police certificate for the interview. He only brings it to the interview

Thanks!!

Also, I just called the embassy and they told me it *does* need to go to the Casa Amarilla!

Gosh, this country needs to get their acts together.

I'm going to triple check call the NVC when I get home. Not because I don't trust you, but because I need to hear it myself.

This whole thing has been such a nightmare!!!

THANK YOU!!! I'm now going to try to get all documents together to mail out IV package TODAY.
