My nephew is a lawyer and it would be the Bar, first try to get your money back and if she refuses contact the Bar about her stealing your money and her incompetence. Good luck to you but I would drop her behind she will only screw you up and no matter how much money you have lost for now it nothing compared to the time you will lose if you keep her as your attorney. You can take her to small claims court now then file at the Bar.

I think I'm going to wait until my case complete then go and report her. I've kept a log of her negligence and I have a consultation with another attorney to see what I can do. I'm pretty on top of it so once I get my case number I'll be able to pay both fees and have her send the stuff in. If I don't get a checklist I'm going to tell her to screw.

Honestly I would wait until you can pay the fees, pay them and then fire her. I wouldn't risk having her in charge of sending in your important documents and filling out forms. You already know the extent of her incompetence and you can do a much better job without her screwups.

Oh I fully plan on going into her office and being with her to check the documents she's sending in. And I will record our entire meeting so she can't snap at me for being involved. We filed our petition on September 10th and she told us multiple times that my husband would be here by Christmas 2013. All lies...

If I were you, I'd fire her now.

Just spoke to Arthur at NVC and he said both packages, AOS and IV, were received and logged in and then he gave me the whole "wait 30 days speech."

He was nice, but I am afraid we won't get a Case Complete in time for a June interview I shouldn't have convinced myself that we could be together by June...it's going to be such a disappointment.

But you will be together and it could have been worse so just smile and enjoy your progress, it will come all in God's time. It's what I try to tell myself even if I do want it yesterday. . I fail a lot.

The good news is: the issue was fixed shortly after I sent the email. Not sure if it the email that did it or just that it was time for it!

But the fee showed PAID shortly and I was able to fill out the DS260.

Now it is just sit back, relax (yeah right) and wait for the magic words: "Case Complete".

Also find out if she is associated with AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association), and, if so, report her there. Any of you who have had lawyers who don't seem to know the process...if your attorney is claiming a membership in AILA, this organization needs to know that they are flunking big time!

Be ready with all documents that don't expire, such as tax transcripts, mariage certificate, birth certificate and all that, and write everything that you have and what's missing in a checklist and check off everything you have ready so you don't miss a thing when the time comes.

Good news! I'll call them up next week to see if they have received my application since I got approved on April 11.

It used to take NVC 5 weeks to assign a case number 2-3 months ago. It's taking 4 weeks to get a case number now. Who knows? It may end up taking 3 weeks for us to get a case number if they have been reducing the backlog. Fingers crossed!

Talked to Ken at NVC, what a nice guy he told me our package arrived today at NVC wooooooooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooo one little step but it feels so good. So approved from USCIS on April 8 Th 2014 and arrived at NVC April 26 Th 2014. Yes indeed! Oh, oh and yes he said to wait 30 days for our case number (CC) and invoice number (IIV).

Yay for you! Baby steps!

Congrats Soloenta!! This is a big step forward. Get your packages ready to send to the NVC so you don't delay your Case Complete once you get the Case Number
