It really is nice to have the morale support.. I feel a little alone though no one is talking about their checklists and how long it took to solve them - but there seem to be a lot on the spreadsheet.

Oh well i hope our back and forth journey will help some one one day searching about lack of court records easily on hand- apparently they only keep them available for 10 years in Scotland.

I sent my corrections only 3 days after the incorrect AOS was sent. Neither one has been accepted. I was told my file is under review now but I really think scanned and review is the same thing. Waldo would not clarify whether scanned is different than in review.

I guess I'm bored!!! The AoS was scanned in on 22-Apr. Too early for any action right now!!!!!!!

Question:

Someone told me that you'll receive a notification email when NVC assigns you a case number (assuming you have called them up to give them your email address).

Do you still need to call them up 2-3 times a week to find out if they have assigned you a case number like some NVC shortcuts suggest? Is it necessary? If so, why?

I just don't want to call them up too often and increase my chances of getting a restraining order! LOL!

Once I knew NVC had my case I called once a week for the first three weeks. On the fourth week I called twice, the second time I got the case number and IIN. Since it *normally* takes about a month to get case number, I'd call once a week for the first few weeks just to check to see if you get it earlier. Near the month mark you can up the calling.

There's some members that call every day or various times a day. I don't have the patience for that I'm hoping for case complete next week, I'm calling now and I'll probably call Thursday or Friday next week. That's it.

So basically- call as often as you want! Or as little as you want. But you do want to call to get the info since the emails come many days or even weeks later.

yeah true.. I will update, just in case someone else has a similar problem. I ran the new estimates now we have checklist and i moved end it to July 9th. Not too bad, but wa hoping for before july 6th for our one year anniversary, but i know others have had a year already- so not going to complain. I follow your case LoveMyTico, i hope it all goes smoothly from hence forth! You deserve it!

Talked to Ken at NVC, what a nice guy he told me our package arrived today at NVC wooooooooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooooo one little step but it feels so good. So approved from USCIS on April 8 Th 2014 and arrived at NVC April 26 Th 2014. Yes indeed! Oh, oh and yes he said to wait 30 days for our case number (CC) and invoice number (IIV).

indeed, one step in the right direction!!!!!!

Be ready with all documents that don't expire, such as tax transcripts, mariage certificate, birth certificate and all that, and write everything that you have and what's missing in a checklist and check off everything you have ready so you don't miss a thing when the time comes.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have waited for over a year to say this!!! I literally just screamed and did a cartwheel at work!

CASE COMPLETE!!!!!!!

I emailed on Wednesday and put it to the attention of the DR and requested an immediate review of both cases for their #######-up of the civil documents. I don't know if it did anything but they case completed both parents yesterday! Jenny gave me the good news and I may have deafened her if any of y'all talk to her today

Good news! I'll call them up next week to see if they have received my application since I got approved on April 11.

It used to take NVC 5 weeks to assign a case number 2-3 months ago. It's taking 4 weeks to get a case number now. Who knows? It may end up taking 3 weeks for us to get a case number if they have been reducing the backlog. Fingers crossed!

BTW, you mean April 25 (today), not April 26 (Sat), eh?

Congrats Soloenta!! This is a big step forward. Get your packages ready to send to the NVC so you don't delay your Case Complete once you get the Case Number

I swear I should have hired one of you guys to do this for me since my lawyer is a royal screw up. She lost my tax returns and my original marriage certificate then told me I never gave them to her. Do any of you know if I can put a complaint against her to the BBB or Bar? She also told me I act like I know everything but I'm actually stupid and screamed at me to get out of her office. The only reason I haven't told her to stick it where the sun don't shine is because I know NVC is a bit shorter with a lawyer.

My nephew is a lawyer and it would be the Bar, first try to get your money back and if she refuses contact the Bar about her stealing your money and her incompetence. Good luck to you but I would drop her behind she will only screw you up and no matter how much money you have lost for now it nothing compared to the time you will lose if you keep her as your attorney. You can take her to small claims court now then file at the Bar.

Click "end process"
