Timeline

So, I've had good experiences both days I called the NVC this week (spoke to Sandy on Tuesday, Todd this morning), but sometimes I do wonder if they're being run by monkeys over there.

In a nutshell:

As my signature suggests, I received my EP acceptance email on 4/15 (responding to my original 3/23 email), and resent both the IV and AOS packages minutes later. As you may recall, I decided to test a theory: I sent the EP OPTIN email on 3/23, resent on 4/7 per an operators suggestion, and after both payments cleared I emailed the AOS package on 3/29, and the IV package on 4/1. The only time I ever received an autoreply was on 3/29 for the AOS package - never for the OPTIN, or for the three other emails containing the packages.

My DS-260 was accepted on 4/22, and a false checklist requesting both packages was received via email on 4/23 (which I then ignored, of course).

This morning, I was told that my IV package was under review, and that they received it on 4/22 (remember: I emailed it both on 4/1 and 4/15). Todd was concerned that it was the civil documents rather than the AOS, and advised me to email it once more to be certain it was received. Following his instruction, I did so immediately after I got off the phone (and received an autoreply).

Literally less than three seconds after I hit send (before the email had cleared my outbox), I receive an email responding to my 3/29 email that contained the AOS package (half a month before I received the EP acceptance) that they were now reviewing my AOS package.

I'm going to take this to mean that both packages are under review, and I should expect a case complete some time soon, but I really do hope it's before time slots for the June interviews are filled. :(

Thanks for the update, greatly appreciated!

This would suggest that they are working on NVCElectronic eMail sent March 29th. Watching both your timeline and that of Xprecious32 with fingers crossed. Our AOS was eMailed on March 31st and our IV package on April 1st...The waiting game doth continue!!

I was told last night that when you get a case complete, your file goes into a queue to wait for interview appointments. It is separated by country. You may get an interview a little quicker if there are less immigrates from the same country. She said there is not a specific time frame when they get scheduled. It depends on the queue

Amanda told me she doesn't see many Costa Rica calls coming in. So hopefully when my time comes... it will be pretty quick !

I pray your case complete soon!!!

but my embassey doesn't have list for IR1 or CR1 interview priority date so i don't know is there soo much people or less hope to get everything done soon

Bangladesh seems to be a medium-volume consulate for Asia. Look at historical statistics for your consulate/embassy's volume of immediate relative visas here: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2013AnnualReport/FY13AnnualReport-TableXII.pdf

And for a breakdown of how many of each type of immediate relative visa were issued in 2013, look here: http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2013AnnualReport/FY13AnnualReport-TableVIII.pdf

Submit all those things to NVC, and they'll forward them to the consulate when you get case complete :) Make sure you're using originals or certified copies.

I have a question regarding which form to use for the AOS. I am well aware that in Saylin's Wiki it says:

Which I-864 Form to Use

If you look at the USCIS website, there are a multitude of I-864 forms listed: I-864, I-864EZ, I-864A, I-864W, and even I-864P.

The I-864 is the most common of the forms used. This is what petitioners and joint sponsors use.

The I-864EZ has three different criteria points that need to be met before a petitioner can use it. Remember, if you do meet all the criteria, it doesn't mean you have to use it; you can still use the I-864 if you wish. But, since the I-864EZ is shorter (and thus easier) to fill out, if you can use it, I suggest it as there's lower chances of messing up and getting a checklist.

The I-864A is used for household members of sponsors. Typically, the only time I recommend using the I-864A is for spouses of joint sponsors who are deciding to contribute their income as well. So, in these cases, the petitioner would file an I-864, the main joint sponsor would file an I-864 as well, and then the joint sponsor's spouse would file an I-864A.

The I-864W is rarely used. The only time I see it used is for children immigrating (with one of their parents) who will become US citizens upon POE. Please read the I-864W and its instructions for more information.

The I-864P, which really isn't a form, is the poverty guidelines and is used to see how much income is needed for different household sizes.

I am the petitioner filing for my spouse but I don't have any income, as I am living in Mexico with my spouse. My sister will be our joint sponsor. According to what it says here from Saylin's Wiki, my sister should also file the I-864 just like I will? Before, I was under the impression that all joint sponsors file the I-864A. Would someone please be able to clarify this for me? Thank you. :)
