If you go to the same office where your passport was issued, to get the PCC it should be easier. As that passport office would have already done police verification before issuing the passport. So usually you walk in (with an appointment of course) and walk out with the PCC. If you go to a different passport office, they will take longer as they will have do the actual police verification again. At least this is my understanding. If I am wrong, please correct me.

Anyone who is a US citizen or permanent resident can be a joint sponsor.

We can get PCC from PSK within one day.

I did it already. My PCC issued in different PSK and my passport issued in different PSK (Passport Seva Kender).

It's all very dependent upon the insurer, the only way to know for your individual case will be to have him call and ask. Most likely you will be subject to an "open enrollment" period, which is a window during every year when people are allowed to sign up for or change their health coverage. My insurance is through my employer and our open enrollment period is in February, so I had to add my husband to my policy then. It wasn't a problem for me to add him without having a SSN. Your immigration may also qualify as a life event that would make you eligible for a special enrollment period. For instance after a marriage insurers will give, say, 90 days to add the new spouse to an existing plan, then the window closes until next open enrollment. I'm not sure if immigration will fall under this life event category but it's worth asking.

Basically there are weird rules about when you're able to start coverage here; they're designed to prevent people from simply purchasing insurance when they get sick and dropping it right after, but they may give you a bit of a headache. Your husband should get on the phone with his insurance provider to figure out how it'll work for his plan.

I'll get my husband to call and ask! I sure hope they accept the migration as a life event, or we'd have to wait for open enrollment and I have no idea when that would be. My husband is under Optima with his employer

My husband added me on his life and health insurance also last February, I live abroad.

I remember this was discussed before.

Most insurers will require dependents to be added in these conditions:

1- Life event: birth of child, marriage: within 30 days of the event

2- Open enrolment: usually November of every year for coverage the year after

3- Loss of benefits: if the spouse loses benefits due to job loss

Bottom line, your spouse has to call his insurance and ask, different insurers have different rules.

I added my wife in November and I'm paying for her benefits knowing she will not be here until July!!! but it is well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

I certainly hope migration is considered a life event! Or that his open enrollment period is soon! I told my husband the same thing, it well worth paying for the benefits in advance so that coverage is immediate when the spouse arrives!

I am actually going through this process right now. The school district I work at is switching over to state health insurance starting July 1st, so I can add my husband now and when he comes he will be covered. I was just worried because I don't have a social security number yet to add him. But they told me to just put NRA the way I have on my taxes because they also need a copy of the front of my taxes to prove we are married and that way it will match.

Your husband just needs to find out when is open enrollment to add you and what documents he needs to prove you are married. I didn't add my hubby when we got married because then I would be paying insurance for someone who wasn't even in the country. I know our open enrollment is in October to start being covered the following January.

I saw ur timeline , that u have paid aos on 15th apr and sent aos on 19th apr. My questions were.,

1.Did u send ur aos package after u saw the status paid on payment portal or jus u sent in before the paid status?

2. Y would it took 4 days for u to send in aos package from the date u paid aos? U were waiting for nvc to debit money from ur account or waiting for paid status?

I sent my AoS as soon as the barcode cover sheet was available. It was only available after the fee was 'paid'

Received "ACL FOR WWRO" / "PAOSF I-130 FOR NEOPOST DS-1200" emails saying to submit my DS-261 (done yesterday) and pay the AOS fee (still not available in portal).

Lol this thread is way too active I have a question. The thing is my husband moved a couple months back but we didn't update in uscis because we were scared that it will delay our case further. But he still has contact at his old house as its on rent and he can recieve the mails and everything on that. So is it necessary now to update the address? I really don't want that because that means dealing with uscis again right? And if we dont change it would it have any bad effect on our taxes or anything for that matter?

I live in South Australia and they are sending the PC to my address and then I will send it to the consulate with the rest of the paperwork. They didn't seem to have any idea what I meant when I said it was for a visa to enter the US, either.

I got my ds-260 confirmation last feb. 01, 2014 but until now we didn't any news about so we tried to contact the nvc to check our status but they said they didn't get our documents but our paralegal said they already send it to nvc. Is there any case like us out there?
