Yup- one of those things has to happen. Either petitioner has to relocate to the USA ahead of time and land a job , find a joint sponsor, or sponsor on assets- which is what I was able to do.

It's not fun, but it makes sense to me. (it's really the only part of this entire ridiculous process that makes much sense) I personally know a couple who relocated together to a new country (not USA) and they're all poor because they can't get government support since one of them is a foreigner. Well that's why they put in a financial part, to avoid those situations.

Thank you so much, lucybelle! Yes, it's tough, but it makes sense to me.

I'm so glad that my partner got the okay to keep his job and work from the US so we can claim his income! I'll attach a letter from his employer and mention it in the cover letter.

Otherwise, he'd have to move to the US now to land a job before we send off the AOS package since I don't know if we can find a joint sponsor! I mean nobody wants to sign up with a 10-year commitment except for your spouse!

because our lawyer told us to be honest with the 'ever being arrested thing' and husband was arested once but there was nothing on the police report ,cos the case was thrown out- so disappointed@! I thought they would only ask for it at the interview. !!!!

The goal is to have her fill out the federal tax return for 2013 sign it, date it and include W2s and all schedules.

Even though she has filed for an extension she can fill out the return that she expects to file at any time for you.

Tell her if she amends the return at a later date its no problem, that you will simply need an updated return or

online transcript to carry to the interview but right now you just need a paper return to file with the

AOS so that you are not delayed. Making her understand that she retains her full right to amend the return

at any time and what she is doing for you wont effect that should hopefully put her mind at ease.

She is the key to your immigration success so patient persuasion with simply worded facts and not pressure

is the most important thing now. Write down a list of her potential concerns and practice how you will address

then with carefully chosen words. I pray that you are successful with minimal delay.

About 2 to 4 weeks to arrive at NVC from USCIS......Have heard of 8 weeks

About 25 to 35 business days for a case #

About 30 to 40 days to get case complete with no checklists and prompt payment and express shipping

A wild guess if everything generally trends your way based on current processing guesstimates

and you have all your Docs in a row 90 calendar days or so....somewhere around July 15 for case complete

Just got off the phone with Lee from NVC who sounded just about as tired as I am but did give some helpful info.

Seems our IV docs were scanned in yesterday so the checklist today was indeed false. And our AOS was accepted and all good!!! So now we wait...

BOS_LHR, does the London Embassy do 2 rounds of interview scheduling? So let's say we hopefully get a case complete by the start of May, is there still a chance we could get in for a June Interview? Anyone else interviewing in London please feel free to weigh in too!

Hey guys I saw lots of people said to call NVC daily in order to get NVC number quick,

But when I am calling them they are saying same thing wait 30 days.

Is it a gud idea to call everyday . They won't get frustrated...

I have been following this thread since January and the time frames are pretty close.

You can look in post #1 at Saylins spreadsheet (in her signature). It breaks down all the numbers going

back several years. Read her NVC guide...this link is also in her signature...read as many

of the posts as you can each day and you will make it through without any needless

delay. From now to your interview is probably..... at least 5 months

I dont think you are supposed to send a "return that she expects to file".

I dont think you are supposed to send in anything that has not been filed. That is not good advice.

Either that third sponsor sends an extension AND they submit the return/transcript at the actual interview.

OR

They submit the filed completed return right now to the NVC -- not what is expected to file.

What about 2009, 2010 or 2011 ?

I am the USC filing for my husband from abroad so I need to use my Mom as a Joint Sponsor.

For Section 1 of the AOS Form would I be 1a. (Petitioner) or 1e. (I am the first of two joint sponsors)?

Did you already send out the AOS package or are you sending it out right now ?

If your sponsor filed Form 8848 - you are supposed to send in a signed copy of that form with the AOS package - alongwith your 2012 (and if possible 2010 and 2011 returns).

If you filed the extension electronically via Turboxtax, TaxACT or another preparer - please send in a copy of the electronic record which should contain something called a submission ID.

If you have already sent one of these two items, you will not get a checklist.

"Most recent return" in this case is the 2012 tax return.

Don't fret about the verbiage.

2012 is your most recent return because the sponsor did not file the 2013 return.

HOWEVER ---> Between now and the date of the interview, get that sponsor to submit her 2013 return.

This is a must.

They will ask for it at the interview and you will need it.
