NVC Filers - April 2014

No, i filed for the i-130 first then the i-129F which can be for married couples (in theory to make the separation time between my wife and I shorter while we wait).

It did get approved within 3 months which is much quicker than i anticipated, now i'm hoping that either:

1. the I-129F (K3 visa) makes it to the embassy quickly or

2. the I-130 application gets pulled out of line and paired with the already approved I-129f thus saving a few precious months of waiting.

Any advice/input from any/all members would be very much appreciated.

If I submitted document for checklist to ATTN:DR, and NVC received the package on Monday, how long does it take for them to open it, scan it and review it and then add it to the case?

They say 30 days but the spreadsheet shows about 2 weeks. They seem to be dragging this past week though. There are alot of people who are due for Case Closed this week !

K-1 is the fiancé visa. The K3 is for married people but processed the same way as a K1. It used to be faster. It was created because the I-130s used to take years. The K3 is faster if they let it go through . When you get to the US, you have to adjust status ( just like the K-1s) and it costs about $1000 more. You can't work for a few months while you wait for your work authorization.

We filed because the lawyer heard they were bringing them back.... I prayed for the K3 but it was cancelled. The kept saying the I-130 takes precedence blah blah blah I wanted the K3 so bad because I used to stalk this thread and I saw how long it was taking. We still have a waiver to file( 8 more months at the NSC) so hanging out at the NVC for another 3 months was just a big waste of time. But I am almost through and I only arrived April 1st. So I guess we'll see. Its been a long journey. 11 month and 6 days at the USCIS was so horrible. It kills me to see people complain about this process when they only waited at the USCIS for 5 months. Walk in my shoes and then start crying !!!

So sorry to hear about the mess, I sent my papers in March 2013 but because of two mistakes one mine the big one USCIS they changed my date to June 24 didn't set me back that long it seemed but it adds up and was very frustrating. I feel your pain, I hope everything starts to move fast for you.

LOL! I thought the same thing! I was like, "What? USCIS2013? Where is NVC2014?"

OH THANK GOD I'm not the only one hahahahaaaaa I thought OMG they are going to think I'm totally nuts. Paranoid maybe but not nuts.

no, only the K visas need to adjust. For the CR-1 you have to clear conditions because it is only a 2 year green card. IR-1 is for couples who are married 2+ years. That is an automatic 10 year Green card.

Hello, this question is just cause I'm curious and clueless but why would you file for both? One is for married the I-130 and the other is fiance am I correct? So the I-130 would mean your married which would automatically cancel I-129f correct? (F)

This has been well answered, but many of us including my husband and I, applied for the K3 via the I-129F, hoping for a quicker move to be with our spouse, but alas... it was not to be.

Hey guys - After submitting my DS-261 I got an email and this was mentioned "If the applicant plans to adjust status with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, please tell us before paying any fees or taking further action."

what does that mean?

Maybe give NVC a call to clear this up.

Sorry to hear that....You should give them a notarized copy of the birth certificate. You can get it notarized in your local bank. Don't send the originals

I hope you do or did send originals sammyhouse, as that is what is required at the NVC:)

Removal of conditions isn't the same as adjusting status. A CR-1 visa results in a two year conditional green card, and then you have to file to remove conditions to get the 10 year card. IR-1 goes right to the 10 year card because they've been married 2+ years as you say. Adjusting status is for people who are in the US but are not yet green card holders (LPRs).

I just broke down now, crying my heart out, just got a checklist for birth certificate, that it's not original, that's the only original I have, don't know what to do.

They wouldnt accept your birth certificate from the hospital where you were born, go to a high court (not magistrate court) and swear an affidavit of age and take it to National Population Commission where they will give you the original type required by NVC. Unfurtunately National Population Commission will ask you to come back for it in 2 weeks time but you can pay more for express service. Good luck to you.

I have been getting through first time, every time, when I have called right on the dot of 7am. Wait time is generally 10-15 minutes but I haven't used a lot of Skype credit redialing like others have had to later in the day. Only problem is that some of the less-than-friendly employees work the early shift!

I managed to get through pretty easily - only waited about 20 mins.

They received our case on April 21st, so I imagine we will get a case number in a couple of weeks. Just need to keep on calling!

My K3 was approved from the Texas Service Center on 4/16, and mailed to NVC on 4/18.

I called today and they haven't received it yet. I will be calling every single day until they know by name though!

Thank you for your kind words and I pray the same. I'm scared to even hope, I asked them to expedite my case when I was living in Egypt for my parents medical conditions but they refused and rejected my request. It is a hardship in many fronts, they have no compassion at all.
