You do not have to wait to enroll after paying and you do not have to wait to pay. What you should do is wait for the ENROLL acceptance to send the packages. Some people have done it the other way successfully but others have issues. I prefer to do things in a certain order to eliminate issues.

Thank you for your response, we have a lawyer and he paid the fees already . I did the enrollment and I hope is the right decision!

WOW! 4 weeks just for the ENROLL?

How long then that it take them to review AoS and IV packets once they receive the emails with scanned documents?

I've seen a post that it takes them 20 days to review packages after EP acceptance. I'm trying to find the post.

Thank you for your response, we have a lawyer and he paid the fees already . I did the enrollment and I hope is the right decision!

Once you send the ENROLL email you have to stick with EP. They won't accept snail mail packages from you now.

EDIT: adding information about EP. You should wait for acceptance before sending them packages. It will be easier for them to retrieve and review!

Honestly this doesn't matter. They don't need it. The embassy can copy it for the records. Visa in passport name, green card in visa name. So if you bring BOTH passports to the interview they will put the visa in the new valid one.

Oh wow, thank you. I didn't know that. Thank you for clearing that up for me, for us. But I found out that I still need it to get my police clearance. *sighs*

Hi,

We just got our case number and IIN number 2 days back.Today when i tried to login it says the case is in process of being terminated ? Fees and forms can no longer be accepted.if you want to resume the case then call immediately ? ....has anyone received this message or know of ?

Urgent response would be great.

Thanks !!!

Saylin's wiki linked in post #1 of this thread is your go-to for all information including the answers to questions such as these:)

After a draining 13 months we received our case complete on 4/18!! We are so thrilled!

Congratulations!!

Hi Guys,

i just received and I -864 form filled out by my joint sponsor and there was a slight mistake on it he put his annual house hold income on par 6 of 9 c instead of putting on putting on item 10 of part 6, thing is that he lives in Atlanta and i live in Indiana and he is busy during weekdays so i wont be able to get another form by next weekend. so my question is that since its a slight mistake can i just replace that page with a new corrected page or do he has to fill out whole new another form and send it to me.

second question on his tax returns slip would that be enough to send the first and second page of 1040 form with the w2 of his , or i have send the whole tax transcripts of 2013.

any help on this by Saylin or matter would be greatly appreciated

I would print out he relevant page and make the changes, or have the joint sponsor do that and scan/email that page to you.

That takes minutes..

My understanding for your second question is that you need the entire tax form if you're not using the transcript.

Found it!

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center.

We received electronic documentation for this case. Please allow up to 20 business days from the day the email was sent for the scanned attachments to be uploaded to the electronic case file and reviewed.

If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact with the NVC (by telephone, mail, or email), all submitted fees and documents will expire. If this occurs, your fees will need to be repaid and documents will need to be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

As this case is processing electronically, all forms and documents must be sent via email as scanned attachments to NVCElectronic@state.gov . Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case.

Arghhh the whole Ireland vs Northern Ireland has once again came back to bite us on the butt... they are asking for an Irish police certificate even though they never have lived in Ireland! on the phone now to the NVC...

Oh no! Time to educate more NVC staff on geography:) Good luck sorting that out.

I have been MIA for a bit... but I just got emails for case number, and also another email for fee bill ready for payment... since when are they sending emails out so fast? I haven't even sent an opt-in for Canada... did they do that automatically with the email on file? this is so fast I cant believe this... what in the world is going on...

Opting in with ENROLL for EP is not the same as receiving emails from NVC about your fees etc. That happens regardless of whether you're from a country that can do EP/enroll.

So, is it faster to enroll in EP or should one go with sending it in the mail? I remember reading that mailing it actually saved some time ...

I personally chose to use snail mail... not sure it will save time, but it's saving me from the long wait for ENROLL acceptance and emailing/re-emailing my packages like some other Canadians ended up doing. I'll be the guinea pig statistics-wise for the point in time:)

Right now I believe they are only doing EP with Canada and China. I could be mistaken.

It used to be faster I heard, but now NVC is getting too many emails and getting backlogged..

I've opted for EP for 3 reasons. A) I get to keep my originals with me and just send them scans, B) I save money on postage, C) I still don't have documents ready to send (blame hubby and joint sponsor) so I would be going crazy if I could send it now and they were holding me up..

I can imagine. I can't wait for that day when I too get a case complete.

Right now I've started conscientizing the family of the eventual move... that way even though they know that day is coming, it will still not come as a shock to anyone.

I have been meaning to ask you...how did you blend the Ghana and US flags together....in your photo .......it is beautiful ... :)

You're welcome :)

I haven't sent the package yet, I'm still waiting for my case #. But I am planning to send my Venezuelan bank statements and a written explanation that states the amount of money we currently own and its equivalent in US dollars.

There is no need to translate them, NVC only cares about the equivalent in USD, the officer in the consulate/embassy will be the one who reviews the foreign statements. You could always highlight the available amount of money in each statement to facilitate the work for NVC.

I will send statements of the last 12 months ( I read somewhere that they usually want to see 12months), and only the last 6 months of a joint account (because it was opened 6 months ago).

Oh, and the money conversion should be done with the "official rate". The consulars know that the official rate is kind of a lie (lol) but it doesn't matter because legally you should use that number.

Good luck with your journey,

-Alejandra

Perfect! That was what I was thinking. Thank you so much again. The best of luck to you! =)

Right now I believe they are only doing EP with Canada and China. I could be mistaken.

EP is optional for China and Canada, required for Turkmenistan, Jordan, Syria (operations there indefinitely suspended), Yemen, and Mexico (if case number starts with MEP).
