I just put a sticky note on the photocopy in the opposite parents packet stating where they could find the original/certified copy. I also notated on the cover sheet of contents where they could find the originals.

Thanks for your reply. And did this work? Meaning you did NOT get a request from NVC asking for additional Originals?

Just checking to make sure. Please let me know.

Thanks!

I just got off the phone with the NVC and they gave me the case number. :) But, there's something I'm a little confused about: after I asked for the IIN and received it, the gentleman on the phone asked me if I wanted the Beneficiary Number and I said sure. What exactly is the Beneficiary Number? Is this something I completely missed in Saylin's guide? Thanks!

Called the NVC today and they told me they received my case on April 2nd. THEY DID NOT tell me invoice Id number. They just said that I had to wait 30 "business days" for the case to update in their system. Anyway I told myself i would not get on here and worry my pretty little head off. I'm just letting you all know my PD is June 10 June filer. And I think I'm in the right thread this time.

Timeline

I filled out the 230 for practice, but everyone has to do the online DS-260 these days.

There also seems to be some inconsistencies in the required information as per posters in the last couple of weeks. I had absolutely no education history nor prior work sections to fill in, I even checked it several times to be sure, but it only asked for my current place of employment/school.

Prior addresses were by month/year, to and from. Prior visits to the US (x5) were day/month/year, to and from.

You'll find much over the last few weeks about EP in this thread. I simply chose to avoid the hassles that others were experiencing, and did snail mail... yes Canada has the option for either (but once you choose EP, then you must do EP) :)

Perhaps there may be different DS-260 versions depending on the country of the beneficiary? I'll wait to find out if I'll need to fill out the dates (as well as month-year) for the education, employment, and address sections. I hope mine is super simple. LOL! :)

Yes, I just read messages regarding EP (Electronic Processing) for Canadians. It looks like it won't speed up or slow down the process. However, it can be faster if you get an RFE since you can just email your documents. Plus, it can save money for not mailing your documents via FedEx/UPS/Canada Post.

On the other hand, I agree with you that EP can be confusing since you have to register yourself, scan documents and re-size them. I have a Japanese police certificate and I won't be able to scan it since I'm not supposed to open it. I guess I'll be mailing my documents to NVC. <_<

Priority date doesn't matter with IR1/CR1. There is always a visa available.

The exception to this is someone who has a further priority date may get a sooner interview because they've been waiting longer but that's not a guarantee. I've seen it happen maybe once or twice.

Do it right and you won't have a checklist. They're almost entirely because of our mess ups, not the government's. I have seen the gov't mess up of course.

You can inquire with the NVC if you can open that police certificate to scan and email it.

My DS-260 did not ask for previous work or education. It wasn't an issue at my interview. Then it started asking people. Now it seems like most of the time it doesn't. It would be nice if the form was the same for everyone. The one thing you WILL need however is the exact addresses of every place you've lived for any period of time since age 16. That was a list of 18 addresses for me.

This is probably a stupid question and I apologize in advance. I received a checklist (attached at the bottom). Do I have to fill out another I-864 and submit it with the proof of citizenship? I seem to have read conflicting answers to a similar question before. I'm already kicking myself for missing this one thing, I just want to make sure so I don't make anymore mistakes. :oops:4ea094a0-1235-45a5-aae0-db307767571b_zps
