So, my husband and I were unpacking some stuff and found this (empty) manila folder he created at the beginning of our immigration journey:

 I will gladly volunteer my time to the NVC just to scan my own documents into their system

lol, bkghosh and changnoi beat me to the reply here, as I was going to say you both could perhaps just stay there for awhile and enter a few more from VJ'ers :dancing:

I'm really worried about my AOS package. My husband still hasn't filed his 2013 taxes so it will be a few weeks until he can get IRS tax transcripts online. I know the deadline to file taxes is this coming Tuesday so it's not like we can make the 2012 return the latest. His employment letter is also not what I was expecting. It just states when he started there and what his position is, which is different from what he wrote on the i-864 form. It doesn't mention is income amount at all.

His mom is our joint sponsor and has only given me her employment letter and IRS 'wage and income' transcripts which I believe is the wrong one. I feel so awkward correcting her and getting the right transcripts. The way my husband is treating this is making me so upset. Every time I ask him about the documents he gets mad that I'm nagging him about it. I don't know what to do at this point. I know we will get a checklist for something because I can't control and direct what they give to me. I'm totally freaking out about this and having a 'control freak' moment. Ugh :'(

I can empathize too! We're just on the cusp of getting there on time with the AOS using 2012 taxes, and had to get the joint sponsor and her husband to reorder the proper tax forms on a moment's notice (they had account transcripts instead). I also felt like a pest requesting that but it is necessary, so just have it done! :) It's immediate via online request, so it's not a big deal anyways.

We're so close to the cut-off that we've risked sending the forms the same day as paying the AOS fee instead of waiting till it comes out of the bank (we're not anticipating an issue with the payment).

If we get a checklist for not beating the deadline, then we'll deal with redoing the AOS with 2013 tax info. And we'd send off the entire tax return paperwork rather than transcripts, as you may need to do.

What a shame that your husband is responding to you that way. That doesn't make a stressful situation any easier to bear. Thankfully, mine has really depended on me to guide him through the AOS, by phone and Skype, as I'm the VJ addict and have all the tips provided by others that help us put our package together.

Good grief, I was way off! At least you were festive for POE :D

Future kitty would be eternally grateful if you reserved a box. How exciting you get to add a new furry little member to the household :) I've been in my current place for two years now, and my favorite part of moving here was adopting my cat literally the day I moved in. I had no furniture and most of my possessions were still in boxes, but dang it, I finally had a cat. I hope you can get your fuzzball soon, and share pics! :)

Yup, I was definitely festive for the interview and POE, lol!

Well, I do have a bunch of USPS boxes folded away that we used to move that I can use for future kitty ;) And yes, when we moved here, we were excited to find out we were allowed cats (for a deposit fee and an extra fee each month) :D Perhaps we'll name one of the kitties Saylin (if it doesn't already have a name) ;)

I guess I am just feeling down and sorry for myself today so please bear with me. We got an approval from USCIS on March 27 and I have been calling NVC and they said it wont get entered into their system until May 16th. I know all cases are different but I see people who got approved after us and have already been entered in the system and already paying the fees. I just don't understand.

The ways of the NVC are misterious and no one can possibly decipher it, (unless may be Saylin can :yes: ). So all I can tell you is have patience and eventually, you will get your case number.

PS: It took me two months and four days before I got a case nubmer.

Most likely NVC will acknowledge receipt next week. So call them to find out. The actual Case # will probably take couple of more weeks. After that things will move much faster. So cheer up...:)

There is no method to the madness. Your case will arrive at NVC very soon.

Make good use of this time and read Saylins NVC guide a few times.

It will be the key to no future delays. Post your timeline in your signature.

I would send a copy of the I-864 instructions to your spouse and ask him to read. Let him know that while you seem like a control freak now, it is because you do not want to spend an extra month at the NVC if something is wrong. You're treating it like a big deal because it is. When my husband finally went to the IRS office for the transcripts (no online ones then) and got his pay stubs from work, I finally was able to get him to sit down and do the form. Apparently I only just told him then I needed them, but I'd told him this since we filed... Some people can't do things until it's in front of them, needing to be done NOW, and others can't deal with the pressure. We all have our strengths.

For you, I would forget the employment letter completely as it doesn't match, and maybe even pay stubs. If your husband needs a joint sponsor then their income is more important. Ask him to mention to her that you need the rax return transcript acxording to the IRS website (which actually it says when you go to download it and click "immigration" on the top.) If you want to add an oops my bad to that, then by all means do so.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.  - Dr. Seuss

Call NVC tbo find out. Early morning (East Coast Time) or late evenings worked better for me. If you get a busy signal, keep redialing. Once you get through, you have to Press 1, then it is a wait to be able to talk to an operator. Sometimes the wait could be 20 or 30 minutes or longer. They can tell you when they received your package from USCIS.

Meanwhile, please fill in your Timeline...that helps all of us.

REPOSTING:

Filled DS261 on 27th March (already 18 days) , still shows - "COMPLETED", what is the next stage for this? when will it be accepted?

Filled DS260 on 6th April (already 8 days) , still shows - "COMPLETED", what is the next stage for this? when will it be accepted?

AOS and IV already sent but not entered into the system till now.

The approval of DS-261 triggers the IV invoice. Since you already paid the IV fees that means your DS-261 was accepted. But call them to find out if the AOS (I-864) has been accepted. Same with the IV package. They will be able to tell you on the phone. Once both these packages are accepted, Case Complete will happen. Hope it happens very soon for you.

Meanwhile, why not submit all these details into the NVC Spreadsheet (via the form)? Thanks.

Hi,

Can we use FedEx/DHL for mailing the IV packet or compulsory we need to use USPS mail???

What is the address???

I mean in my document cover sheet it shows

National Visa Center
Attn: CMR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

However in the NVC website they tell below

Group C: Mail - Submit forms and documents by postal service

If your case is processing as part of Group C (see Table 1 above), then you must submit forms, civil documents, and financial evidence to the NVC by mail (postal service). You must include a copy of your bar-code sheet each time you mail documents to the NVC. Use the following address when mailing your documents to the NVC:

National Visa Center
Attn: DR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

Please guide
