Husband told me to just send in the correction. He doesn't want to even wait for the lawyer to answer my question. He is pissed. He keeps saying since we paid this guy so much money he should be on top of our case and should be answering every question. If it was free, then ok, we won't bother him... but I have done everything so far. and now that I think about it. I wonder if this lawyer even sent the IV package with he AOS. UGHHHHH I'm losing so much sleep over this ####### !!!!!

I'm sending the corrected AOS tomorrow with a copy of my 1040 with line 22 highlighted. and since I filled it out, the lawyers signature in not needed. Hopefully they will get both files and combine them.

It is so annoying that you have to stay on top of the lawyer and actually double/triple check him after you have paid him that much money!

I hope things go well with all of us!!!

Good luck!!!

Non-issue. The consulate it is going to sees that birth certificate all the time. NVC doesn't approve anything, just checks correct and completed.

Trust me people, you'd rather have issues with the NVC and their 30 business days than with your consulate or embassy where a correction could take MONTHS!

So if NVC says case complete, the consulate will most probably not ask for any more papers. In my case, my income on AOS is enough for 4, but my parents will go together for their interview. This will make my family of 5 ( myself, spouse, son, 2 immigrants) Now, NVC has been treating both cases as individuals, and I haven't received checklist for co sponsor, so what do you think about this? Also, for 5 ppl I am only 1500 away, plus I have bank balance to makeup for that gap.....I feel like I am overthinking...but ....any thoughts on this.

Timeline

I am worried about getting the same checklist for contract...I thought about including mine but ended up leaving it out. When I put my income in as 0, I wrote a letter about my income that says: "I am currently employed at XXX in Dakar, Senegal, as a XXX. Since I intend to leave this position upon the receipt of my spouse's visa and this income will not continue in the United States, I have not counted this foreign income towards the sponsorship of my spouse. Thus, my eligible income is $0 and I have included the documents of a joint sponsor XXX".... I am hoping that works! If they give me a checklist for employment letter, that'd be pretty pointless!!! I also had included an end of contract questionnaire thing that I got from my work, indicating my intention to leave my job as proof of domicile.

I can't imagine why they would need our contracts since none of that income counts. With a joint sponsor too, it's really unnecessary. Fingers crossed to slide by check-list free this week...

Grrrr. Just called NVC and got a checklist for my AOS. They said my income for 2012 was wrong, even though I know I checked it like a million times to make sure I put total income for the 1040! Problem is I'm looking at the copy of my tax transcript and I just now noticed the freaking lady at the copy place didn't copy the backside of the paper, so I don't have the info to look at!

The NVC lady said you can't take "total income" off of the tax transcript, it has to come from the 1040. Which is weird, how could it be different? So now I'm trying to call my mom to see if she has a copy of my 1040, because I don't have it here in CR with me.

Also said I have a checklist for "proof of employment" when I obviously stated that I LIVE ABROAD and so it won't count. NVC lady said I need to send in a note saying "I didn't include proof of employment because I don't work in the USA"

Grr.

I am the petitioner (USC). My husband is Senegalese.

I am rereading the I-864 instructions. I suggest people with questions also do so. There is a lot of information in there that people are missing and asking questions about on the forum.

That happened between black friday and Dec 27... Surprised it took so long for your bank to figure it out.. LOL

I'm really worried about my AOS package. My husband still hasn't filed his 2013 taxes so it will be a few weeks until he can get IRS tax transcripts online. I know the deadline to file taxes is this coming Tuesday so it's not like we can make the 2012 return the latest. His employment letter is also not what I was expecting. It just states when he started there and what his position is, which is different from what he wrote on the i-864 form. It doesn't mention is income amount at all.

His mom is our joint sponsor and has only given me her employment letter and IRS 'wage and income' transcripts which I believe is the wrong one. I feel so awkward correcting her and getting the right transcripts. The way my husband is treating this is making me so upset. Every time I ask him about the documents he gets mad that I'm nagging him about it. I don't know what to do at this point. I know we will get a checklist for something because I can't control and direct what they give to me. I'm totally freaking out about this and having a 'control freak' moment. Ugh :'(

Can you not forward him AOS instructions from Saylin's Wiki or NVC website? Let him know that its not you, its NVC requirement. Its just a phase, it will pass. Don't worry :) Also, tell you MIL that you just read about a checklist for submitting wrong IRS transcripts. Take the blame on yourself and say something like " sorry about this but, I gave you the wrong info about transcript, we actually need this one......can you please blah..blah..blah...

Hope all this makes sense....because I am myself kind of stressed right now.

Praying for you, me, and everyone waiting. TC

If you (your husband) are submitting the I-864 after the 2013 tax deadline, you will need to submit a copy of the Federal Return (the whole package) that was submitted (or will be submitted) to IRS + W2 +1099 (if any). The Employment Letter, Pay Stubs, etc. are (optional good to have). I did submit an employment letter, but forgot to submit any pay stubs. NVC did not care. I think the employment letter that you have is OK.

The I-864 must be signed in Black ink and the original signed copy must be sent along with all the above attachments and the bar coded sheet on the top. Put N/A or Does Not Apply in just about every box that does not apply.

Like Peace said this shall pass... Take a deep breath. Look at the big picture. :) :)
