Just received false checklist..... ....tip toe...closer to finish...

Even though I have read and knew it (false checklist) was coming.....my heart still missed a couple of beats.....

How do you know if it's a False Checklist? Do you have to call and I don't understand why they would send one seems really mean to me.

NVC sends out a checklist after reviewing one of the two packages sent. Often they review AOS package first. They issue a checklist for IV package. Which they usually already have, they just don't want to look. That's why it's called a false checklist since it's not required to respond.

Does it take that long if you have a lawyer? I thought that having a lawyer cuts off like 4 weeks because you don't need to designate an agent. You just pay your fees and mail it in.

Well, sort of... It depends on how competent your lawyer is. Some people find that the lawyer doesn't work as fast as we would so the time savings is negated.

Several people (including Saylin in the wiki) have mentioned that nothing should be left blank in form i-864 and you should type "none" or N/A. However, I found myself trying to do so and some parts of the form look kind of ridiculous lol (see attached thumbnail). Should it really be like that?[/size]

Does anyone have screenshots of this form- besides the sample form on the site...A lot of spaces are blank there, so I don't feel like I should follow that sample....[/size]

In addition to copying the amount on line 5 onto line 10, it seems like 6a,b, and c could be referring to your spouse, the applicant. After all, they will be included in your household size. Then their income would be 0 or "none" and in question 12, you would check the box for "this person is the primary applicant" and then write their name.

My uncle is the joint sponsor he is retired and his income was 39000 last year and he has a wife .do you think his income is good enough to support the applicant .

All I can do is share my experience, I left all that blank and had no problem leaving it blank. I only filled out important parts on it.

so you have sent your AOS and IV package a day after we sent ours, but why is our false checklist different from yours. Are we going to receive another check list like yours? How many false checklists we will receive if everything is submitted and no issues with docs? Btw we have already submitted ds260.

I did not see in your timeline what date that was done.

The reason I mention this is at NVC the right hand

doesn't know what the left hand is doing so depending

on the sequence of when each component was processed

a different false checklist is automatically generated.

This is and should happen because we are taking

advantage of all the shortcuts and not waiting for formal

notification.

A false checklist asks for something general in nature in my case the IV packet with the civil documents which I had already submitted.

This automatically generated checklist is typically an indication of the review and acceptance of the AOS packet.

A real checklist will ask for something specific that needs to be corrected or submitted.

I just wrote it, I don't know, maybe it has to do with the version of your pdf viewer?

try writing on the form directly on the web browser (I used chrome) and then saving the doc...

So... That means that putting N/A everywhere is the way to go? lol... like my previous thumbnail?

I read here to use only Internet Explorer for Government forms.

After 2 weeks of leaving messages for my lawyer and not hearing back from them I made and appointment and told them how pissed off I was so he got his little helpers moving and I got an e-mail telling me NVC finally received my case today! So excited my case is finally moving along after almost 13 months of waiting :-)

Oh thank you so much, but there must be valid Check Lists correct? If so how do we know it's a valid one? New to this sorry.

What does IV stand for please? Is there a page for abbreviation's used by the members of VJ cause
if not there should be. I find myself lost sometimes not knowing what is being talked about. I check the

abbreviation pages but can't find a lot of them.

God bless you in your journey. It is actually a good sign to get a general non specific checklist.

It means they are looking at your case. You can always call them to confirm and when you do

be sure to have a pen and paper and inquire about details such as when AOS and IV packets

were entered into their system. They have picked up the pace recently and are processing

some cases within 2 weeks of system entry. Prepare your heart because some operators that

you talk to at NVC are very rude. When you get one like that just end the call quickly and call

back later. Don't pay to much attention to the timelines they give you. Things are moving faster

now.

IV - immigrant visa

AOS - affidavit of support

MFS - married filing separately

NRA - non resident alien
