NVC Filers - April 2014

hey everybody i have just been approved on april 3rd i just wanted to know how long could it take till uscis send my case to the NVC since i still didn't receive any update regarding shipping my case to NVC or should i call the NVC directly and ask them if they have my case. Awaiting your kind replies best of luck to everyone.

Haha, aw! My husband and I were lucky, we were together when the DS-260 became available. I pulled up a chair and sat beside him while he went through it, but it was really just moral support. I hope your case complete comes quickly since they switched things up on you last minute!

Ah yes, you are lucky Our DS-260 session last Thursday required us to Skype together. Skype doesn't let you share screens and Google Hangouts never works properly. So, he would save his progress on CEAC and save screen shots in our immigration drop box folder, I'd log in to CEAC and take a look, to verify and after many rounds of that, we submitted it. It took about 2 hours, I think. Maybe a little less.. but all the logging out and logging in and checking things against screen shots and a .pdf version of the DS-230 I filled out last year made it take forever. You can never be too careful

Wait for two weeks and then start calling to NVC to see if they got your docs. After NVC receives your docs you need to wait about 20-30 days to get case #.

Question about translations (which I know are not "required" but can be requested)-

For the police record the only part that is actually the police record is the first page, then there's three more pages authenticating the police record. Do I translate all the pages or just the actual police record page?

if you are the one translating then I would do all of them. My divorce decree from Costa Rica has pages of all that and I never had that translated. I only sent the Divorce part with translation to the USCIS. It was fine.

I was told that there are instructions on how to get the police cert once you get your appointment letter and you can't do the medical until you have the letter because the doctor wants to see it. Is that true?

Yes, you need the police cert for the medical.

If you have an extension that'll last you through to the end of the process I think you'll be ok, unless you're perilously close to the income guidelines. I'd include 2014 pay stubs to be safe, and maybe the last one from 2013 to show your full year income.

I have an extension until October 2014.

All the "instructions" for the police record here in CR are pure BS. You don't need to wait for a checklist to get one, you don't need to go to the embassy to get an official request. You just have to go to the "Poder Judicial" to get the police record (my husband got three even though you're only allowed one?). Then you take it across the street to the Executive director to get it authenticated. Then you take it to the Casa Amarilla to get an apostille. That's just to make it "official".

I called the embassy about the medical and you have to wait to get "case complete" before you can make a medical date.

My AOS fees now appear as paid. Can I go ahead and email in my scanned AOS and supporting documents? Or do I need to wait. I've seem some people say that we have to mail the documents in, but I am doing electronic filing with MTL, can I still email in scanned copies instead of mailing it?

After reading these forums for months, you'd think I wouldn't have questions lol, but here's one I believe I've seen before:

The AOS on CEAC says pay, yet when clicked, there is not an option to continue to the payment/ no tick box. (The IV section has a tick box but is not invoiced yet).

That ability to pay will happen soon right?

Got case complete on Friday, april 4th, waiting for interview date to be given by embassy. Debating on whether I should call them and ask for a timeframe or not... opinions?

I have seen some VJers advising to email just after the fee shows as paid. I emailed three times. I was talking to NVC representative this afternoon and did ask him on this. He told that NVC reviews documents in order as they are received. The only question is: Would they receive if before we get ENROLL acceptance email?

Hello everyone I have a question. I made $ 18,385 last year, but this year I am expected to make $24,000 for this current year. Would I need a joint sponsor ? Or do U think I will be fine with providing paystubs and a employee letter ? For the AOS. Any advice will be helpful

I just checked the poverty guideline and I think you will need a joint sponsor since your last year income did not clear the 125% of HHS poverty limit!

Hey Saylin and fellow VJers!

I forgot to put my middle name in DS260 form (page 1) and am worried if this would cause me any problems. I called NVC and the representative said it should not be an issue and I may bring this to the notice of Embassy at the time of interview.

Completing DS260 is a lengthy process. We had two forms to complete (me & my wife). Her's is fine.

Did anyone (besides me) made such a silly mistake?

Was able to talk to a gentleman from NVC after being on hold for about 15 minutes. AOS has been approved. The civil documents (IV package) has been received (touched). However, they have not reviewed it yet. He said I am done submitting everything. Just sit tight and give them 20 ~ 30 days to review the IV package... No really... :) I am calling them tomorrow...
