I've tended to notice a difference in quality of service at the two emporia. CFA's employees are always on the ball, whereas KFC's often are not.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

They have a training center here. I know a few high school aged kids that have gone there and say it's tough.

My boss's daughter was a greeter at a CFLA before she went off to college... a greeter...at a fast food chicken joint.

I went to a 4 year olds birthday party there once but I didn't eat anything. The curtain climbers really seemed to like it though.

I have never been to a Chick-Fil-A, but KFC is terrible. You get enough grease in a KFC meal to change the oil in your vehicle. I do like their mashed taters, biscuits and gravy though.

Note to Teddy: Fried chicken is made through a process called "deep fat frying" where the chicken is submersed in hot grease to cook. How do you propose to make deep fat fried things not full of fat? :)

I have eaten and cooked plenty of fried chicken that does not leave grease dripping off your fingers and chin. It can be done.

Eww, I have never had KFC cause grease to drip off of my chin... or off of anywhere. It will make the napkin greasy if it sits there for a while.

Everytime I have eaten at KFC, which isn't to frequently, the amount of grease left on my hands, chin and any other thing that comes into contact with the chicken is disgusting. I usually end up with a stomach ache afterwards too. We joke about it all of the time whenever someone mentions KFC. We have a Popeye's here that leaves very little grease, so I'm not sure why KFC is so bad.

Hmm, we have had different KFC experiences in our lives :)

You know, I think KFCs are franchises, maybe your local one doesn't have the oil hot enough or something. They didn't pay their KCF tax and the Colonel didn't give them the real recipe :)

I've noticed this at several KFC's not just one, for some reason their chicken is much more greasy than any other I've had. Perhaps they don't drain their chicken long enough, or perhaps I'm a picky SOB, I don't really know. It's all personal preference.

Just another example of how words don't import enough meaning a lot of the time. How our own experiences flavor how words are used. You say greasy, and you mean something different than what I hear when you say greasy. If grease is really dripping off you, that is disgusting. I would report them!

It reminds me of my favorite part in Kundera's The Unbearable Lightness of Being, "words misunderstood."

Chik-fil-A is better in the south. Any of the ones above the Mason-Dixon line are sketchy and the Midwestern ones are truly terrible.

Still, they are my favorite.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.
