Regarding name changed adjustment of status

Hi All,

My wife is on a tourist visa now. We will not have a problem since she came here with the intent to return. she has many things back home that are not finished, example she needs to sell her car. Any way she are working on putting together her packet and I want to make sure her green card will have her married name. The marriage license only has her maiden name we were instructed to do this and change through the different agencies later. so which form gets her married name that will appear on her green card and also want to make sure her EAD will have her married name also.

4-11-2014 - Sent I-130 , I-485 , I-131 , I-765

4-14-2014 - tracking number verified USCIS received package and signed by L.CHYBA at 10:57 pacific time or chicago 12:57

4-17-2014 - received text msgs 4 all 4 forms and emails for all 4 forms that they were accepted confirmation.

4-18-2014 - USCIS withdrew funds from my account

4-26-2014 - Received biometrics letter

5-14-2014 - biometrics completed

5-19-2014 - sent info to Senator to expedite work permit EAD

5-22-2014 - I485 changed to testing and interview status

5-29-2014 - EAD work permit went into production

6-3-2014 - EAD shipped with tracking number

6-4-2014 - Messages EAD delivered

6-5-2014 - applied for SSN

6-13-2014 - received SSN

7-9-2014 - received notice mail sent of interview date for 8/14/14

Fill out all the forms in her married name for the family/surname. Put her maiden where it asks for maiden name or other names used.

Mmm I think whoever told you that made you mess up. You should have written her new name on the marriage license, unless I am missing something. The problem you have now is the following: which document will show her new name? When you send the forms, you need to attach this.

In some states, they don't reflect a change of name and only issue the cert in the maiden name.

The OP should still file the USCIS paperwork in the married name, if that is the name they want. The marriage cert by itself allows a person to change their name to the spouse's name.

thank you very much for all your support and responses. We have a lawyer helping us but we found mistakes after checking her and are now verifying everything. This is a awesome forum

I ignored that fact, I stand corrected.
