To those of you who elected in the visa application form to receive your SSN upon admission to the US, how long did you wait to get your SSN in the mail?

Right now I haven't filed my ITR yet since I am waiting for my spouse's SSN.

TIA.

My husband never received his card even though he checked the box. He had to go to our local SS office and apply for it after 4 weeks of being here and not receiving it. They told him he wasn't in their "system" yet. Then they mad a mistake at the office. it was 8 weeks before he got his card, it wasn't sent automatically. I have read many post here where people say they had the same experience. My advice, go to the local SS office and do it yourself.

Mine took about 3 weeks, but that was 5 years ago now.

If you haven't received it 2 weeks after arrival, go to the local SS office and they should be able to give it to you.
