Se will need to apply for a b2 tourist visa... Which are tough for young unmarried Phillipine women... She apples to the embassy and pays the $160 fee and shows them compelling reasons whey she MUST return to phillipines and why she will not stay in the USA...

Thank you,

What do you think I should do, marry her there, and then do the CR1 spousal visa,

or have her come here, to meet the requirement of meeting first - before filing the K-1 visa?

Thank you again, so much

come to the U.S., and then we get married?

ok, green card through marriage seems to be the rout to go.

I just did a bit of research, and found out that it is difficult for someone to get a green card without connections to someone in the U.S.

Thank you

I will just you, if you file a K-1 tomorrow.,.,you could have it approved in 4-6 months.,,.and I have seen 2-3 months.

BUT, YOU MUST MEET, SPEND TIME TOGETHER, AND TTAKE PICTURES, BOARDING PASSES OF FLIGHTS, MEAL RECEIPTS A,D HOTEL RECEIPTS WHILE IN THE PHILS. """"YOU MUST MEET FACE TO FACE"""

IF you go to the Phils..,., and marry her there then you would file a CR-1 (I-130).,.,., and the wait time is 12-16 months.,.,.,for this process!!!

YOU have a choice.,.,.BUT a visit to the Philippines, is a must either way.

A tourist visa fron the Philippines.,.,for a young woman, who does not have a HUGE bank account, and a land owner.,.,.,and is of significant means..,.,.,..,.IS IMPOSSIBLE.,.,. I have never heard of an average Fhilipino woman getting, a tourist visa..,.,.although ..it may have happened before..,..,I just never saw one!

So, 4-6 months(after proof of meeting).,.,. or 12-16 months if marry in Phiippines!

Good luck on your selected path.,.,.,it is not easy, and it is long.,.,..,BUT.,.,.,,""IT IS WORTH EVERY DAY OF THE PROCESS!!!"

Another question Christeen, thank you

to avoid the K-1 process, can my fiancee do her own paperwork in the Philippines, become a U.S. citizen,

come to the U.S., and then we get married?

A green card does not make you a US citizen, a green card is not something she can file for in the philippines and obtain. it takes 3 years after marriage to a US citizen to take a test to possibly become a citizen.

K-1 is only for fiance. you MUST meet face to face in any country in the world, then file the paperwork. if approved she comes to US, you get married, then file adjustment of status ($1070.00), this can include work permit, ability to travel outside US and green card). green card good for 2 years, then you file and pay more money to switch to a 10 year green card or take the citizenship test.

if you marry her in her country, you return to US and start the paperwork for CR1? once approved she will join you in the US but will automatically have a green card which is work, travel and permanent resident status all together. then citizenship test in 3 years.

Someone please correct me if I have stated something wrong. I'm basing this on everything I have read and already done in my own relationship :)

Young man... You really need to take a moment of your time and read the K1 and CR1 guides here on the site as you seem pretty clueless to the process and even the system as a whole... This process and marriage in general is a really BIG thing and not easy or cheap... Someone cannot just "become a USA citizen" on a whim with no reason... There is a n immigration system, perhaps you heard of it on the news? Anyway... Spend some time reading first, then come back with any specific questions... Plus you might want to look up some stories in the regional forum of the Phillipines about some scams going to get a green card, I don't want to see a young man caught up in heartache... Just sayin, Go in eyes open and learn the process... I think you might be in over your head at the moment IMHO.... But good luck

Okay, thank you.

It is hard for me to understand the information on the websites. It is not completely clear to me.

Another question I have is can my mother's finances serve as the provider finances, or does it have to be mine?

Thank you

Take your time, if you have never met how do you know you even like each other, never mind get married.

Okay, thank you very much for your advice.

This isn't to be taken lightly. Its a major investment in time and money. You have to be willing to spend the time to learn how the immigration process works, what documents you need, what problems that may arise. It's a big learning curve.

Also not taking it seriously can lead to denial, lost time, and lots of heartaches.

Journey so far:

09/14/2012: Sent I-129F Packet

09/21/2012: NOA1 Received

04/22/2013: NOA2 Notice of approval
05/08/2013 NVC Received

06/01/2013 Packet 3 Received

06/04/2013 Packet 3 Sent

06/10/2013 Packet 4 email received

06/27/2013 First Scheduled interview-cancelled (didn't get notarized paperwork in time)

08/12/2013 K-1 interview passed!

08/28/2013 Lili Arrives in the U.S.!!!

10/04/2013 Marriage!!!

03/26/2014 AOS Approved!

04/02/2014 Received GC

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and think of what could go right!
