nor do very very dark skinned black people with foreign accents.

Yep, and that's the sad distinction. Being African and being a black American are two very different things.

Marvin so very true. So if every other race and nationality can prosper in America including blacks from other countries, how can you cling to the outdated idea that skin color is holding back native born black people.

You have done all right, even though your parents are from another country

I do not have a problem with him. I just like to point out he is an individual from a mixed racial background. He is not completely white, nor black, he is mixed. And for people to continuously call him words that describe him in racist terms, like monkey and everything else is silly while completely ignoring his white mother.

As far as other Africans coming to America and being successful, we all know for the most part they are treated different. And your point would make sense if ALL black people were unsuccessful, but we are not. People make comments like yours while ignoring black inventors, actors, business owners, doctors, judges, lawyers, engineers, teachers, military personnel, etc.

I like Chimamanda Ngozi. Beyonce uses some of Chimamanda's words in her song Flaws and All, from a speech Chimamanda gave on feminism. We like the African immigrants that come to our country just as well as other non-Africans. Recently Chimamanda did an interview about race in America and about her book titled Americanah. She explains in the interview that many Africans have noticed and understand that they have certain privileges and are allowed to do certain things just because she is not a black person.
