On a totally different topic, I wonder how many people here, esp women not too well versed in Islam and Islamic tradition have talked to their SOs about their martial relations and rights? That is also a VERY important issue to discuss with your SO.

why do i always think of a car commercial when i see that phrase?

Well I am sorry, not all of us call it by its more crude names. :innocent:

But anyway, is this even something everyone here talks about... or knows their rights about? Or even cares?

Successful marriages know how to deal with difficult situations. Thats I think the bottom line for any marriage...MENA or not...

Ooooooooooo ok... O snaps I wish I had more time to be online... but first a few other suggestions for topics....:equality/submission(SORRY for a lack of better word( concerns, finances, family of origin issues, family planning( I posted that one already thou), parenting, in-laws, domestic violence, sexuality problems, infidelity, gender issues, health issues, housework and chores, stress, cultural differences, and even sleeping together.

An interesting on the Muslim Women's League site: http://www.mwlusa.org/publications/essays/sexuality.html about sexuality.

ALso another about women;s rights: http://www.islamic.org.uk/womright2.html

Basic and fundamental rights of women :

The right and duty to obtain education. The right to have their own independent property.

The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.

Equality of reward for equal deeds.

The right to participate fully in public life and have their voices heard by those in power.

The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.

The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.

The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him.

The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).

The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.

From translation of Natural Healing With the Medicine of The Prophet. (My dH and I read this together in DZ.) comes many insightful info.

The sexual aspect of life has three basic purposes:

1. Conservation of the human race, and continuity of its kind until it reaches the total number of human beings
intended by Allah's (SWT) leave to experience life in this world, to fulfill the divine purpose, and to show gratitude to its Creator.

2. Ejection of bodily fluids from the body, otherwise, suppression or retention of congested semen can cause various kinds of serious illnesses.
3. Fulfillment of one's desire, satisfaction of one's sexual pleasure, and enjoyment of this blessing.

The latter is the only pleasure of such intercourse which is also provided in the heavenly paradise, whereby, therein three is neither ejaculation, natural discharge of bodily fluids, nor reproduction.

The principles of conjugal love in Islam are few and uncomplicated.

1. Sexual relations are for the pleasure of both the husband and the wife and for the procreation of children. Sexual intercourse is not limited to vaginal penetration but includes other forms of sexual caressing, such as kissing and fondling of various kinds.

2. Nothing should be done that is offensive or harmful to either person. Each has a duty to be sexually available to the other, but neither has the right to disgust or injure the other.

3. With a few exceptions, the couple can engage in any activities that they like, in any manner and in any position. Allah rewards such activities as surely as he punishes sinful activities. The Qur'an says, "Women are your fields. Go then into your fields as you please." (2:223)

4. It is forbidden to have vaginal intercourse while a woman is menstruating (Qur'an 2:222). According to the Sunnah of the Prophet (God's grace and peace be upon him), a man and his menstruating wife can however give one another pleasure so long as the woman's genitals are avoided.

5. There are ahadith that forbid ####### intercourse and scholars generally agree that it is not permissible. However, in his tafsir (commentary) Tabaari (3d century A.H.) while forbidding sodomy, says that earlier authorities were divided on the question.

6. The Qur'an and the Sunnah are generally silent as to the various forms that sexual relations may take. Most authorities consider that it is up to the husband and wife in love and mutual respect to decide how to physically express their sexual desires.
7. What goes on in bedroom, is a private matter and should not be discussed or revealed to other persons unless there is some necessity, such as health or safety. Abu Hurairah narrates that the Prophet (pbuh) said this about people who reveal and discuss openly their sexual practices: "Do you know what those who do this are like? Those who do this are like a male and female devil who meet each other on the road and satisfy their desire while the people look on."

There are also much information on relation fiqh (which I would be happy to share... but I rather PM anyone interested party the link and info, so as not to break the terms set forth here.

I really hope no one is offended by these remarks or takes as more then educational material.

LOL! I come on VJ after months of being away and when I click on this thread the first thing I see is #######! I think the only thing Amr & I could have talked more about is the U.S dollar and how far is does not go. He's a spender and once we were back in the states he had to realize you just don't go buy things just because. Also we had never talked about what would happen if he dies. He wants to be buried like they do in Egypt {no embalming} and I just don't think that's possible here is it?

Well your number one right is (which unforuntately some men donnot bother with ) is.... YOUR SATISTIFACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have right to fore and after "play"

Here is a link:

http://www.islamfortoday.com/ruqaiyyah03.htm

FYI: But to edit my last comment, is to ok to touch"the women above the navel and below the knees. Many Muslims say bismillah before.

ANd common sense and fiqh says to do wudu between goes and whole ghusl before prayer.

I'll tell ya what- I'm with ya there I think it's nasty.
