Yes everyone can see what is written by both of you...both bickering with each other. Yes, szsz often can get attitude-y and defensive, but you yourself said that your husband wrote something in Arabic, to "shame" her, instead of in English for all to see. Is that taking the higher road?

Some of us still have no idea what your husband said. But if even you said yourself, that it was written in Arabic as not to shame her so openly in English(or something), then it must not have been very nice either. Discussing is not the same as shaming, so I don't see how szsz has written anything much worse than your hubby supposedly did.

The difference is, szsz made ####### up that WOM didn't say.

If you can't read arabic, unfortunately, you can't understand what she meant by shame. It's not some grave shame you might be thinking of, and the post in arabic certainly wasn't what I'd consder to be shameful. It asked questions from one Palestinian to another.

Regardless of their argument which I could care less about, the statement her husband made in arabic was shameful. Any form of shame is bad. People just don't do that in the Arab world to people they hardley know or don't know unless they want to insult them or start a fight. Maybe you wouldn't consider it shameful but an Arab would. It was not just simple questions.

Here's an issue that just came up within the last hour.

We were at the doctor's office and two army personnel were there also to get flu shots. Anyways my husband seen his Iraqi friend and his wife and went to talk to them and they spoke arabic. We left the doctor's office and one of the Army guys came out after us . He asked my husband if he spoke arabic and my husband said yes. Anyways he was trying to recruit him to be a translator. I was like I don't think so! I just got my husband here. Anyways he gave us his card. So your spouse may at one point try to get recruited as a translator.

I’ve never asked my husband to make any remarks on VJ on my behalf. *SHEESH* -- for crying out loud -- as anyone around here should know (at least if they’ve been around VJ for more than a heartbeat) I’ve managed to handle quite a few rugged debates on this board, all by my little lonesome. And it’s not the first time I’ve been personally attacked in a repulsive manner -- I’ve been called everything from anti-American to anti-semite to terrorist. Y'all should know I don’t need, nor do I ask for, any “assistance” from anyone in standing up for myself – I can handle it. And if you read the thread, you can see that I’ve already done so.

I want to say that I very much appreciate the other brave souls who have the stomach to slog through the poo-slinging that unfortunately stinks up so many of these debates about Palestinians/Arabs and/or Muslims in general -- your voices of reason are so vital. You guys know who you are . And I want to mention that quite an impressive number of you aren’t even ME/NA folks.

I also very much appreciate those who may hold conflicting views, yet are able to discuss issues in an intelligent, mature, and mutually respectful manner, without stooping to personal attacks.

My husband likes to read some of the posts here – in particular the ones discussing his country, Palestine, and issues that affect his people. And he often reads what I post on this subject. When he saw the things Szsz posted about my comments on Palestine/Palestinians/etc. – well, he told me, “I want to reply this person.” It seems everyone else and their mother felt free to drop by with their opinions – and he can do the same. He said what he wanted to say, in his own way.

So forget the fantasy that he posts on my “order” or “request” – he’s a man, not an errand boy, and I don’t tell him what to do.

JP -- I’ll make sure he sees what you wrote to him. He may want to answer you, too, or even make additional comments. But I can’t predict that – it’s up to him.

Thanks for that post MK. I think most of us realize that you and Mahmoud know what you're talking about and I for one am glad to learn from your experiences and from your husband about Palestine.

Don't worry about the trolls- you handled yourself very well as usual and explained everything clearly. It's nice to see someone stand up to the so called (self appointed) "voice of reason".
