My husband finally arrived in the USA on March 15,2014 on a CR1 Visa. We are still awaiting his Green Card. I dont know if im supposed to take him by the Social Security office or if he will get one in the mail? Can someone please offer some help as to what I should do or expect? I dont remember requesting a card or number when I did his Visa paperwork. Any help would be greatly appreciated ;-).Thank you in advance- Sandy

go to the local SS office, even if you ticked the box that said to send him the card, they generally don't. Bring his passport with the visa and his birth cert, have him fill out an application. It took my husband 6 weeks before he got his SS card. There is no need to bring your marriage certificate

there is absolutely no need for him to bring a marriage certificate. He needs his passport and birth certificate
