I went ahead and filed an extension because I wanted to file as 'married' on my return. Since the wife is not a U.S resident, we are currently requesting an ITIN for her. If What the IRS says is true, and it really takes 8 weeks for her to get an ITIN, I will most likely have my NVC case number and be ready to send my AOS docs before our ITIN comes back.

Will I get an RFE for this? I did this with my CPA and the extension is filed. The extension form also has a line for me to pay my estimated taxes, so I did pay that.

Will that be enough? It shows I did pay them something. I probably just won't have a tax transcript to show them.

Also, if it makes any difference, my parents are the co-sponsor since I don't have U.S income.

Also, supposedly, if what NVC says is true, I should get my claim number late april, so I'm not sure if any tax transcripts will be available anyways.....

I wanted to file an extension as well. However after calling the embassy that will do my wife's interview I was told that I would have to file prior to the interview. Looks like I'll be doing an amendment once she gets here.

did you go ahead and file 'married but filing separately then?" My extension is filed, but I haven't mailed in my ITIN request yet since we need to get her certified copies of passport, so I"m wondering if I should go ahead and file it married but filing separately just to make sure I get a tax transcript.
