lorella....I filed an expedite request using the criteria of financial hardship and humanitarian due to the crisis in Ukraine. I had to file the expedite request twice, because the first time it was entered incorrectly by the Tier-1 agent. When advised to re-file it, I made sure the agent wrote everything I stated and had them repeat it back to me.

It is very encouraging to hear such a good news! We having the same situation here, so would you kindly tell me exactly how did you put in the expedite request? Did you just call and said something like 'my fiancee is from Ukraine, the situation there is dire' or else? What about the proofs? Any help would be much appreciated and good luck to you, guys!

AI&Da...To request an expedite request, you have to call. You tell the agent that you want to submit an expedite request. They will then start asking some questions about your application. When they start to process the expedite you will need to tell them the reasons you are submitting for an expedite. These are the categories for an expedite:

  • Severe financial loss to company or individual
  • Extreme emergent situation
  • Humanitarian situation
  • Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States
  • Department of Defense of National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)
  • USCIS error
  • Compelling interest of USCIS

When determining which ones you will need YOU have to prove how it will affect you and also you fiance.

I submitted my request under fianancial hardship and humanitarian. I described in detail, and the agent must enter this, that I would need to travel to Ukraine and take leave from work due to being out of vacation to make sure my future family is safe and provided for...the financial impact being I would be severely reducing my income, the ability to pay bills, mortgage, etc. The priority is that my family is safe and provided for. Under humanitarian I talked about the possibility of the embassy closing consular services if the situation escalates, the taking care of children in these uncertain times, stress levels elevated due to crisis and possible exposure to war, etc.

It is important the agent enters everything you want...try to be straight to the point as they have limited space, but they should not paraphrase you as these need to be your words and you need to prove it.

I hope everything goes well for you and your fiance. I don't think Ukraine is out of the woods, yet!

We are at the same situation as you were,so we tried to contact them by email and asked for an expedite review in abt 1 week ago, we explained our difficult situation but still didn't get any respond from them! Please tell me, is it not enough just to email USCIS about this expedite review,or we need to call them first? Hope to get some advice at this point from you! Thanks
