Just curious...why does it seem to take about 5 months or so from the time you file to the time you are scheduled an interview? And then the interview isn't even immediate it's still a couple of months away. What do they do in that 5 months? Why can't they schedule it as soon as the request hits the embassy?

oh cool...i got my first heart!

The reason everything is slower than what seems necessary is because first of all it's the US government and secondly there are others scheduled for interviews ahead of you so you have to wait your turn.

I would reccomend reading the guides and searching timelines through Egypt.

Thanks. I know there are others scheduled but I just thought why not at least give the date to the person so they'll have that goal to look forward to. I have read a lot of the info in the past few months but I guess now I'll read it all in a new light. It definitely helps me to know what they are doing behind the scenes so that I can understand it better. I hate the feeling of not knowing what is going on. I know you all have been through this and it will take time for me to comprehend and digest all of what needs to be done.

Doodle,

Nothing about this whole process makes sense. Better get used to that right away. :P It seems that Egypt is busy, so although you get your interview date, it is a ways off. I know our interview date for Casablanca was issued right after they got the package, like within days. But our interview was 5 weeks later. The fiance needs time to get things ready for the interview (although not 5 months!!) I've seen a few dates issued and then moved up. Just sit back and hang with us...we're rather entertaining on most days. Besides, what else are you going to do but wait? Pending other issues don't arise... :P I had to throw that one in for the airplane comment you made!!

Ok so I did some more reading and I kind of understand a bit more now. On a side note, Egypt just changed the way they do things by issuing everyone new id cards with numbers attached which went into effect Jan 1 I guess. I have to wonder if that might speed things up or not. Anyway I guess it's luck of the draw depending on whether they get a name hit. For cripes sakes he has about 6 names how in heck would that get a hit. I can see Jane Smith or something but with his name I just can't imagine it.

I unfortunately don't have time to read the whole thread but I want to say you would do yourself a great service to accept the fact that Cairo is slow and methodicaly. You'll make yourself nuts otherwise. It will happen, but they do things in their own time and there isn't a blooming thing any of us can do but gut it out. I hope you guys move through quickly.

Yeah, and happy Monday too. :P:(:)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

I wonder if she will have the issue like Casa with returns, this could be the only good thing about your embassy they may take long but they hook you up. I have not seen to many horry stories. Unlike CASA, where it is ASSH*&E Central.
