Hi ladies and gents,

My fiance has his interview coming up in London soon. What should we expect from this particular embassy? Anything we can bring evidence wise that will help? We need all the help we can get considering all the troubles we've faced so far in the visa process. Thanks, guys.

If you have all your ducks in a row, i.e. you have all paperwork in order, present and correct, there are no medical or criminal issues then the London embassy is generally straightforward.

Can you expand on your "troubles"?

Bring everything you submitted and everything they asked for. Make sure you follow the guidelines. Ali's interview took all of five minutes and the woman was quite friendly to him. Nothing to stress about.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

evidence wise I took along photos from christmas in the states and a trip to cornwall in feb as well as airline receipts from both our recent trips. None of it was asked for and I'd read I wouldn't need it, but took it for piece of mind anyway.

Document wise you need the stuff listed here http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv_and_k_interview_checklist.pdf depending on your situation you dont need it all, obviously if you've never been married then you won't have a marriage certificate.

Take duplicate copies of everything you want back, Birth cert, police cert etc.

Well, it's a pretty unique situation I think. My fiance and I have had no trouble up until the medical. At which he was honest and discussed his history of depression with their doctor. Seeing as that it was rather recent, they wanted to check into more. They wanted him to go to his GP back in Northern Ireland where the doctor would complete a checklist. Then the GP sends them back a report. Well, in this report, the GP mentions that his mental health issues are drug induced by marijuana, but the doctor also left a lot of good points. My fiance has been symptom free for several months, and he hasn't missed any work because of it. But nonetheless, my fiance had to admit to smoking weed to the US gov't.... even though it's been over a year. So, this gets sent back to the embassy to be reviewed. He was then told he'd have to go back to London to be further reviewed by their own private psychiatrist who specializes in substance abuse. He also had to be drug tested in addition to that. So, he pays close to 400 pound this time around for all of this. The psychiatrist was a little confused why they even sent my fiance there considering it being so minor, but the psychiatrist said he was giving my fiance a good report and that he seemed completely functional. Two weeks... I think almost three... we get a letter in the mail with our interview date. It's been a whole mess for us. We applied last July and we are just now getting our interview. I just hope we're okay. I feel like the biggest obstacle we face now is them questioning him why he had lied on all of the paperwork about his drug history! Welp, that was a wall of text. But those have been our troubles.

That's a bit of trouble. The smoking of the weed can lead to a ban from entering the country for a year and necessitate drug tests during that to make sure he hasn't re-offended.

The bigger issue I see is that he intentionally lied on his immigration paperwork. That could be construed as misrepresentation and lead to a permanent ban from the US. That would be my main concern, there's the very real possibility of that going tits up.

The interviews on London are generally very easy compared to other embassies, but if they notice that quite glaring discrepancy between what he claimed on the form and what he medical results are, and I'm sure they will... that's going to be troublesome for you I fear.
