If she is guilty of intentionally disclosing confidential taxpayer information then she could pay fines and spend up to five years in prison.

That assumes Eric Holder would act on the House's recommendation to prosecute her. Dollars to doughnuts he won't, cuz that's just how he rolls. Hence: disbursal of 'confidential' taxpayer information with impunity.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) sent tax documents on a targeted conservative group to Democratic staff on the House Oversight Committee, newly released emails show, despite previous denials by ranking Oversight Democrat Elijah Cummings (D., Md.) that such contact had occurred.

Emails released by the GOP-led Oversight Committee show Democratic staff requested information from the IRS’ tax-exempt division on True The Vote, a conservative group that monitors polling places for voter fraud.

Elijah Cummings.... Looks like he should be going to jail also. So what percentage of information requested has been sent to the oversight committee.. ???? 10-15% so far. Shredders must be working overtime at the IRS.

I read that email that you linked to and it only indicates that they wanted a copy of a worksheet that is sent to these 501( c ) organizations. As an IRS employee I would read that request as a request for a blank worksheet. What is wrong with that?

ABC, NBC Continue Blackout Of GOP’s Criminal Referral for Lois Lerner

On Wednesday April 9, the House Oversight Committee voted to send a criminal referral to the Department of Justice for former IRS official Lois Lerner. Despite the severity of this most recent revelations into the IRS’ targeting of Tea Party organizations, ABC and NBC continue to ignore the story.

Of course. Why would they bother to report the people's business; scandals that quite possibly lead to the very top? Incuriousness . . .

Well, at least they covered other 'news':

Rather than report on the latest in the IRS scandal, NBC’s Today is currently engaged in a week-long series entitled “Spring Breakers” where they attempt to break world records. On Thursday, they attempted to break the world record for the largest exercise class using exercise balls. Over on ABC, the folks at Good Morning America participated in a world-wide sing-a-long of “It’s a small world after all” for the 50th anniversary of the song.

The country's in the very best of hands.

I just realized there was more than one page to that link. All the emails after the letter from the congressmen reference publicly available information. There is nothing wrong with giving congress members copies of tax returns that by law are to be made publicly available.

You're a genius. And an "IRS agent".

Did you manage to read the accompanying article as well, genius? The committee writes to Cummings:

“Although you have previously denied that your staff made inquiries to the IRS about conservative organization True the Vote that may have led to additional agency scrutiny, communication records between your staff and IRS officials—which you did not disclose to Majority Members or staff—indicates otherwise,” Issa wrote. “As the Committee is scheduled to consider a resolution holding Ms. Lerner, a participant in responding to your communications that you failed to disclose, in contempt of Congress, you have an obligation to fully explain your staff’s undisclosed contacts with the IRS.”

Cummings' meddling in IRS affairs, resulting in higher than normal scrutiny for a particular conservative group, constitutes official harassment. And now he's apparently lied about his role in this as well. Normally he'd have earned himself some jail time, but his homies Eric H. & Barry O. will surely save his bacon.

I read the accompanying article and it has nothing to do with any wrong doing by the IRS. If Issa feels Cummings should have told him about their requests then that is between Issa and Cummings. The IRS gets hundreds of congressional inquiries and responds to them. Why would responding to Cummings request be any different.

  • The IRS and the Oversight Minority made numerous requests for virtually identical information from True the Vote, raising concerns that the IRS improperly shared protected taxpayer information with Rep. Cummings’ staff.
  • Five days after Cummings contacted True the Vote seeking “copies of all training materials used for volunteers, affiliates, or other entities,” the IRS sent True the Vote a letter requesting True the Vote provide “a copy of [True the Vote’s] volunteer registration form,” “…the process you use to assign volunteers,” “how you keep your volunteers in teams,” and “how your volunteers are deployed … following the training they receive by you.”
  • On or before January 25, 2013, Cummings’ staff requested more information from the IRS about True the Vote. The head of the IRS Legislative Affairs office e-mailed several IRS officials, including former Exempt Organizations Director Lois Lerner, that “House Oversight Committee Minority staff” sought information about True the Vote. On Monday, January 28, Lerner wrote to her deputy Holly Paz: “Did we find anything?” When Paz informed her minutes later that she had not heard back about True the Vote’s information, Lerner replied: “thanks – check tomorrow please.
  • On January 31, 2013, Paz attached True the Vote’s form 990s, which she authorized the IRS to share with the Minority staff. Neither Cummings nor the IRS shared these requested documents with the Oversight Majority. None of the Minority’s communications about True the Vote with the IRS were shared with the Committee Majority even though Ranking Member Cummings frequently complains about the Committee Majority contacting individuals on official matters without the involvement of Minority staff.
  • Cummings denied that his staff, “might have been involved in putting True the Vote on the radar screen of some of these Federal agencies” at a February 6, 2014, Subcommittee hearing:

Cummings was asked specifically if he'd had contact with the IRS; he adamantly denied he or his staff had had any contact with the IRS. Apparently honesty holds no value for you. :)

More IRS goodness for you, Mr. "IRS agent" without a conscience:

Watchdog finds IRS employees promoted Obama in 2012

IRS employees encouraged taxpayers to vote for President Obama during his 2012 reelection campaign and disparaged Republicans, a federal ethics watchdog said Wednesday.

One IRS customer representative urged people calling into the agency to vote for Obama by “repeatedly reciting a chant based on the spelling of his last name,” the Office of Special Counsel (OSC) said in its announcement.

The office is responsible for investigating cases in which people violate the Hatch Act, which bans federal employees from engaging in partisan campaign activities.

Of course you see nothing wrong here; right, Mr. "IRS agent"?

She could execute 10 Tea Party members on capital hill, and Holder would say we have more important things to do
