Hi, eveyone.

I am Preparing the docs for the NVC, and got few question regarding the I-864, Affidavit of Support.

I need a co-sponsor to meet the income requirements,so I ask my sisiter as the co-sponsor.

After the research on VJ, I know I have fill the I-864, and I-864A for my sister since we live in the same house.

The question is do we need any docs to prove our relationship? Or a notary is necessary?

And for the tax information, does it only ask for federal part, or do i need send eveything (state and city) to them?

Thank you so much.

Each does their own I-864. Easier than combining income.

Get tax return transcripts instead of sending returns as well. Can be ordered or printed online, or gotten same day from IRS office as well.

The I-864a is for household members who are combining income. If your sister qualifies without your income, you both use the I-864. No notary. Only federal tax returns are needed. There are no "cosponsors" in immigrant visa cases. Your sister will be the "only joint sponsor".

now, if you are going to combine income and use the i864A, you need birth certificates to prove you are siblings and proof of living in the same house

Only if she needs to combine income with you. If she qualifies on her own, no. Just provide the to I-864 forms and the applicable supporting documentation. She will need to show evidence she's a US Citizen. Birth Certificate or Passport will do that.

How many people are immigrating? Does she have any dependents? Is she married?

So the household count is 2 for the joint sponsor if she signs a completed I-864, same as you.

I am working on the same question and believe there is a newer I-864P (HHS Poverty Guidelines) in effect now. I found it on the USCIS site but a Google search for "2014 I-864P" also works. The income requirements are slightly higher on the new chart.

One more question with the EP, do I need to wait for the AOS invoice becore apply for the EP?

Or can I enroll in the EP once I get the case number (GUZ#) on the phone and wait for the AOE invoice?

On the VJ's NVC WiKi, it said do not optin EP before the AOE invoice, but some people said thats not right at all.

Thanks.
