My mother and father divorced when I was 2 years old. My dad won custody of me (Sweden) and my mother emigrated to the United States where she has been a citizen for almost 10 years now. I meet her for the first time after 20 years a couple of months ago. I fell in love with the untied states of America, I just came back under the visa waiver program to Sweden and I'm feeling not to good at all. I want to live with my mother her last years. She's older and has had cancer.. Now we're filing for the I-form 130 and I'm wondering how long will it take for me as a unmarried daughter of the age 22 to get at least a visa to stay in U.S while I wait for my green card? Thank you so much in advanced for the people who answers this!

Check the Visa Bulletin

Unmarried Sons or Daughters of US citizens (F1)

About 7 years of waiting till the priority date becomes current.

I don't see a qualifying relationship for immigration purposes - yes, she is your mother but you weren't in touch for 20 yrs and USCIS requires proof you were in touch - visits, pictures together, financial support... I know, not your fault, but USCIS is not going to approve this petition.

Should've paid better attention to I-130 instructions - sorry I gave you wrong info- you were not born out of wedlock and it's not a father in question - proceed with regular I-130 but the wait time to immigrant visa will not go away.

Look into the diversity visa lottery - Nordic countries don't have many applicants. Sweden had 225 this past application period:

Will it go any faster if I apply for a permanent visa from Sweden? My moms co worker got his wife to us and she got to stay.. But I guess it's different when it comes to spouses!

No, it won't. It's just nature of visa availability for family preference categories. Spouses and parents of US citizens are considered immediate relatives and have visas immediately available (still takes a year though). Also, if your mom dies (hope she doesn't, but...), then petition is void since they're meant to be for family reunification.

IMV.

Very first thing you do is to file I130 wihout delay. you never know your mom will last longer and fee is worth it.

Unless you have super cool job in swden, just come and visit your mom a lot, there are thousands of jobs you can look for and someone might give you H1 visa.

even if you don't get a job you never know you can find American Citizan spouse.
