Seems that a lot has changed...

From the time I filed my K1 back in 2010. I was part of the first month that they began using online scheduling, and the embassy was not new yet. When I visited two months ago I saw that they have since expanded. Based here, it seems that CFO is the same, maybe worse than before, still corrupt and nonsensical. Has the medical changed?

I am finally nearing the end of my visajourney, filing for citizenship next week. Hard to believe that 3 years has gone by. We now have a perfect 1 year old and are happily married for 3 years. Just wanted to let others know to hang in there. It gets easier! AOS is a pain, but ROC is easy, hopefully N400 will be as well.

Goodluck, and have a smooth visajourney! I will probably be back when the time comes for me to petition my mom, if I can convince her to move here someday.

PS. If you are near Harrisburg, PA let me know. Always looking for new Pinay friends :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Hey Messybrownhair! I applied for a tourist visa 5 years ago as well and I'm surprised with the improvement in USEM, structure- and system-wise. I would think it's safe to say that they're catering to significantly more applicants these days than then. Hence, the need for expansion.

CFO was handled by PRISM and St. Mary's Euphrasia, until Sept 2012. Being the curious gal that I am, I have read that there were more horrible stories from applicants then, considering the conservative views of nuns. So I suppose, CFO being under the office of President now is like a tamed lion IMO. For the medical, I would tend to say it's the same protocol. The pinned SLEC walktrough in the PI forum is still a good guide, except for the cost for adults had since then increased to an additional $10 for the past 5 years. Not bad, I guess.

Good advice! Theups and downs of this journey only strengthened my relationship with my then fiance and now husband. Your timeline is very dreamy and I wished I have the same, except that I had an RFE during the I-129f with the help of a not-so-helpful lawyer and that was before I stumbled upon VJ. Patience is indeed a virtue and it pays to read and understand the so many available online resources here.

I'm from central NJ. Yet to visit our in-laws in Philly, so I might drop you a line if we have time to go around. Good luck with your citizenship journey! :)
