  1. 1. Buddhism, Religion of Peace?

    • No, because there can only be ONE religion of peace.
    • Yes, but Buddhists in Myanmar are different. Myanmar is to Buddhism like Saudi Arabia is to Islam.

Huh?

You just posted peaceful quotes from Buddha. You are supposed to be posting violent ones, right?

Point. There are none in Buddhism. Cna you name another religion that has many ?

Read the Old Testament if you want to be literal about scriptural references to violence.

Correct and that is why Christians don't use it any more.

Can you qoute some from a religion that is still preaching hate in todays' world ?

There are countless factions of Christianity throughout the world and there have been several religious leaders who have used OT reference to preach hate (see Westboro Baptists, for one). When scripture is taken literally, word for word as an edict from God (Jehovah, Yahweh, etc.), you can try and justify just about anything.

Very true. Porterhouse I believe you are trying to become my friend with all of these intelligent posts. And I see we think alike on a lot of things. If I saw you in person I would give you a hug.

Agree, but is the hate actually written in the text of the book ? (not old test) ? Commands to kill those of other religions ? Calling them animal names ? Just wondering.

You keep going back to Christianity, is there any other ?

As far as Christianity goes, for the different secs of Christians who do not believe in the New Testament, they are still preaching out of the Old Testament. Judaism, does not accept the New Testament. Old Testament still preaching ####### children die in hell, sinners burn in hell, gays burn in hell, eye for an eye stuff, etc.

What? The KKK is well in existence today. And they are recruiting as well.

Why is the Old Testament being left out? Isn't that part of the Bible?

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” – Coretta Scott King

"Oppressive language does more than represent violence; it is violence; does more than represent the limits of knowledge; it limits knowledge." -Toni Morrison

He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it.

It sure is.

If this is true, why isn't our new member posting quotes from there?
