  1. 1. Buddhism, Religion of Peace?

    • No, because there can only be ONE religion of peace.
    • Yes, but Buddhists in Myanmar are different. Myanmar is to Buddhism like Saudi Arabia is to Islam.

Though Buddhism is a religion of compassion there have been many times when practitioners and monks have resorted to violence. There are many articles and books written about it. Many times it is focused at Muslims and of course it was focused at the PLA as well.

Ow, I know. But Buddhism does not teach violence. So to result to this, means they are not a true Buddhist.

That's just like Jesus preaching about helping thy neighbor and then going and burning down his house when he gets mad at him.

A person who says they are Buddhist but does follow the teachings are not Buddhist.

The same for Christians. A Christian that continues to judge and gossip about other people, are hateful, racist, bigoted are not real Christians.

I think there is an app for Google Glass that enables you to see which people follow religion the right way. It beeps with a flashing red light.

I can see where you are coming from and really you are right. I was just trying to point out that Buddhists are not less violent than any either.

You do realize Japanese Buddhism is completely different than most of the Buddhism that is practiced in South Asia.

Buddhism teaches a lot about calmness, being at peace with nature, etc.

A person who says they are Buddhist but does follow the teachings are not Buddhist.

The same for Christians. A Christian that continues to judge and gossip about other people, are hateful, racist, bigoted are not real Christians.

A person who is truly religious walks the life, not just talk it. It is reflected in their daily attitude, in public and in private.

How so? Here in this country, how many Muslims kill people?

Thankfully many of the attacks on US soil have been foiled. But, unfortunately not all. So many hundreds of Americans and Westerners have been needlessly murdered by bus bombs, hijackings, hotel bombings, street murders, knife murders all in the name of Islam. Organized groups with memberships in the thousands. They are the essence of true evil.

Don't be a smart boody. You can clearly see people's actions to tell if they follow the religion they are claiming.

A prostitute can't say she is Christian when she is out fornicating day and night.

Everyone has problems and if you are truly working on the problems ok.

But the people who outright do it and are not trying to change, should not have the luxury of claiming that religion if they are not attempting to follow it.

You should use Google Glass for common sense.

People have argued this since the beginning of time. There is no human being who has the ability to recognize anything other than what they want to see. As for a Christian prostitute, she may in fact be a Fundamentalist Christian, and if so, her faith tells her that once she becomes a Christian, she will always be a Christian. Her relationship with God is a personal one. There is a difference between the legal system, and a moral one.

Evil has many faces. Adam Lanza, James Holmes, Aaron Alexis, and countless other monsters. Those folks kill for no reason. Does that make them more or less dangerous?

There have been more lives lost in this country and anyone else's due to just ignorance and hate than it will ever be to terrorism. I abhor any type of killings in any one's name, but to ignore what blood is shed here over the pettiest thing, so you can focus on a religion you don't like?

We are not talking about legal or moral. We are talking about the individual promise a person has made to their God about how to walk right in the eyes of their believer.

Regardless of how you try to fillet this into a thin line, it is simple. You are either trying your best to get rid of your convictions and follow your God, or you are determined you can be luke warm, do whatever the ####### you want to do, and then claim your religion. It doesn't work this way. I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't.

Just like sometimes with mixed people. They want to be black when it is convenient, white when it is convenient. Be both, be faithful to your race and stand up for yourself. Don't disclaim something when you feel it is useful then claim it when it is useful.

Sorry ExExpat, I just can't agree with you.

I'm really in the middle on this. I understand the point you are trying to make but you are also close the point of claiming faith by works. I'm just glad that I don't have to decide who is real and who isn't.

I bet you love the book of James.

You continue to use the actions of criminals who are not identified to a radical religion. Recognize and admit please that there are radical groups all over the world who want nothing more than to murder Westerners and Jews, and to wipe Israel off the map. There is no equivelency between the behavior of a John Wayne Gacy and that of just a few of the following hundreds of Muslim terror groups:

What makes them more evil than JWG? Their religion? Evil is evil. Radical isn't bound to religion. You want so bad for me to say because of Islam these folks kill. I can't, why? Because I don't kill in Islam's name, nor do any of the other muslims I know. It's an excuse, nothing more. They use it as a reason to kill people. It's not the religion, it's the person. If you took Islam out of the picture, they'd still find a reason to murder folks.

Here a good point. Look at the Catholic Church scandal. So many thousand of children were molested. Who do we blame? The bible? The religion itself? Or the priests? I'd go with the individual.

We have local law enforcement to battle local crime. We have the Pentagon to battle these Muslim radicals all over the world.

I'm not trying to decide who is or isn't real. I am glad I do not. I have been married to a Japanese style Buddhist as well as my current husband is South Asian Buddhist. I am very open minded and acceptable.

However, if you are afflicting harm on others, how can you claim to be so religious? This is completely contradicting, conflicting and everything else is all I'm pointing out.
