Ok morning to all, umm what seems to be the problem that i'm the first. I read and reread being sure not to pull a Charles i dont see another one. Its a cold 31 here a very crazy winter so far.

I was wonder for those of you that the SO is finally here, in the first few days what did they find the most outstanding things. THe things that they just could not get over. I know after leaving Casa my first memories were the heat, the crazy drivers and then alllllll the rocks and then the big one people just stopping alongside the road to P.

Hey Brndl... You should have labeled this as the Sunday thread because now you did pull a Charles, which was actually a Jenn since hers was after his. Well that's the story I got anyways. I hated the driving in Casa. In fact I really hated Casa. I like my fiance's town though. Driving was still crazy but not nearly as bad.

Hassan just got here in December, he couldn't get over how cold it is, even though I live in Oregon and its not so cold here lol, how expensive things are here, and he loves the indoor heat, he also loves asian food, which he never had before.

Yes Ahmed usually has a coat on now but he seems to think prob colder here, they have no heat as such. I did send family pictures of the last snow. True everything he quotes now is (american dollars) he really flipped when i told him i bought dog food for 20. Ahmed hears me talk about Mexican food i'm not sure he realizes what that is i never saw any when i was there.

sigh..i want to add something to the question, but still waiting for the visa. I suspect he will be suprised at the overabundance of things here. It's very strange for him that we eat out so often because they almost always eat at home. He was also sprised when I told him that in Houston there are only 2 round-abouts in the whole city. But it will be interesting to me to see what he notices.

That to when he ask what i had to eat and i respond he will ask if i made or buy out as he calls it, to him I think Mcdonalds will be a real treat for him. He loved it. Also the fact that i dont have to (walk) most places.

Mine isn't here yet but we've talked about some of the differences and he found them surprising.

People don't walk here everywhere like they do in Cairo. Everyone drives.

For the most part, our housing/businesses are seperated (at least in the suburbs).

How expensive things are.

I know there are other things I just need to think for a bit.

Yes I think the prices are going to drive my fiance nuts. He mentions how much he thinks this or that will cost and I nearly gasp. And he will definitely gasp when he sees for himself. He was rather impressed with the pay per hour here though, even on the low end.

True but i believe they see the wages as being high or higher to anything they know but no way they can see the whole picture of cost to live. He actually ask if he can have two jobs.

haha mine asked the same thing. But we talked about what my salary is and how much of that salary I spend to live in the lifestyle (living and traveling as I do). I think that helped get some perspective on how far his wages would get him.
