Hey guys,

My fiance and I are trying to get marry in Cambodia and the process is quite ridiculous. I met with a guy from the ministry that told me the paperwork will cost about $2500. I also need my criminal history from the states but my state require that I go submit my fingerprints. So I'm looking at over 3k if I have to fly home. On the other hand, I spoke with a guy at the local office(sangkat) and he said that since I am Cambodian American and I have my original Cambodian birth cert then I can just get married as a Cambodian and not as a foreigner. Obviously, this would save me alot of money and hassle but I don't know if the embassy will be ok with it when I do the cr-1 visa. Does anybody have experience with this? I would greatly appreciate any advice.
