Only way is for him to join the Armed Forces and be sent to the front lines. They will expedite the case so you can immigrate and get married before he is shipped away for months on end.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Nope, big savings has no bearing. You need to set your expectations to at least 5 months waiting time for the I-129F petition. If it gets approved earlier than that, then woot, woot!

All the best!

Thank you for all the comments.. Well,I'm sure he submitted a well-organized application.. Because we really prepared everything before he submits the papers.. But I'm thinking if a student is allowed to get married.. I mean, we are both 22 years old but he is still studying.. I'm still confused if students are allowed to get married.

Being a student can only matter for the affidavit of support in the sense that he probably doesn't have sufficient income to be the sole sponsor. But with impressive savings that might not be an issue.

So it's ok if he is a student as long as he has money to support the application? Thank you.. You made my mind clear.. :)

Lead time for I-129f may vary, it can run as quick as 3 months and for some unlucky ones, 7-12 months before adjudication. On the average as of recently, DandC is correct, I am also seeing 5-7 months from most VJ members. You mentioned you have just submitted your application last week, the NOA1 is only for notice of receipt of the application. For the average timeline now, you will get a rough idea when you fill-up your VJ timeline. You'll see an estimated adjudication period given the current information available.

In the mean time, take this opportunity to read and see how quickly you can get the requirements for your embassy interview. Here are some blogs written for K1s from Philippines for your reading pleasures:

For a start, patience is a very important virtue. Good luck on your journey! Cheers! :)

Medical was done after NOA2. We were lucky to have had the approval fast. Some even got theirs faster due to the typhoon but that is quickly changing. We had our minds set to waiting for 5 months plus 2 more months for K1 visa application so it was a sweet surprise when everything happened within 3 months. In the meantime, you can read the VJ guides and start gathering documents and preparing for interview. You will be surprised how fast time flies.
