Hi folks!

I'm not sure if this question has been asked before but if it has I apologize, and anyone willing to dig up and furnish the answered thread would be very appreciated by me.

I have a small amount of debt as a resident of Ontario (>~$10K), most of which is both federal and provincial, owing to student loans and a very bad tax accountant.

Does this at all affect my eligibility to file for a K-1 Visa, or the approval process? I of course intend to pay the debt but would prefer to do so when I have been settled in the USA with my fiancee and am pulling in steady income again.

Thanks everyone!

As far as I know, they don't look at any financial information from the beneficiary. The DS-160 asks for your monthly income, but that's it. I'm the petitioner, but I got approved with that much debt from student loans.

Are you the US petitioner or the Cdn beneficiary? Either way the US government is not looking at your Cdn student loans.
