We belong to a group that meets up and keeps track of each other,.... anyone that is adopted or has ever adopted has that opportunity.....even if you have not adopted and want to see how families cope its a none membership group started by Parents of adopted children........

I can honestly say to you that out of the hundreds that i personal know of that have been adopted maybe two or three did not adjust well and had problematic life's......those children came out of our wonderful foster care system..........

race.....adoption.......poor........wealthy.......parenting or non parenting produces children that turn out how they want to turn out everyone has the choice to make the right choice or the wrong choice we can only blame our parents for a so much of our life's then its all on us........the children that i saw struggle the most were the children that the adoptive parents didn't know how to say .no to or clean up your room to (that's over simplifying it)

even those kids in the end turned them self around and became very normal well adjusted productive adults

I have an elder brother that is a bio child of my parents he is a drug addict and habitual criminal......its not something that was learned from my parents or in our home its just how he decided he wanted his life to go

there is entirely too much focus put on studying this group or that group of people based on race religion... (good lord when we set at our table for dinner there is almost every nationality there).. or two family parents or one ..........everyone in our family has had the same kind of upbringing and focus on education.......those that made the choice to not do it have only them self's to blame

when we were little if we needed our butt smacked it got smacked just like the bio kids........

maybe people should instead do a study on why we have a generation of young adults that do not understand consequences of their actions that would better explain why there are so many crappy people now.

when the government stepped in and made parents afraid to discipline a child other than time out or loss of something they liked to do they did not justice or service for the young adults now days that cant seem to get it together......before i get flamed im not talking about beating a child.

one other thing i wanted to address........

none of us had our education paid for in any part by our parents we are not from a rich family.......education has always been pushed in our family but so was the need to find the way to pay for our chosen occupation in life....our parents offer us a home to live in as we attend university food and medical until we are 27 years old.........so we didn't have any advantages that are not available to others.....we started studying early in our scholastic years to achieve the scholarships needed.

The only thing the government has stepped in and attempted to prevent is child abuse. You can legally 'smack' your child if you so desire, the government is not interested in whether you do or do not do that. Other adults however can't physically chastise your child, for lots of very, very good reasons. As to whether physical punishment helps prevent morally bankrupt behaviour, the case for that is is very weak, what is more, criminal activity is falling, all crime statistics show a trend for crime dropping. How does that jive with this notion that there are lots of children today who do not recognise that their actions have consequences?

I thought we dealt with this in another post?

Ever since the REAGAN REVOLUTION when truth in sentencing laws were passed as well as 3 strikes and your out etc. People are staying in prison longer finishing their sentences

In other words the small segment of people who do most crime are more often in Jail now…. which of course has driven the crime rates down. If you need graphs to show the INCREASE in prison population and the decrease in crime rates let me know, I will repost them.

Sure many children of single mothers go on to a productive life…. (many smokers have no ill effects too) but we must speculate how much more could these kids have thrived in a more adventagious environment?

Most definitely not always the case.

My eldest son, who suffered the most from his mother's shenanigans, has thrived since she has been out of the home and no longer able to interfere daily with his life. In those four years he has gone from an odd, isolated kid with less than mediocre grades to becoming an Eagle Scout, a National Merit Scholar and will enter Dartmouth College next fall. His two younger siblings are doing just as well.

My intent certainly is not to be hurtful in anyway.

I didn't think it needed to be said but perhaps I assumed too much..... some people are harmful than they ever could be helpful as such an important person in a childs life. Protecting a child is job number one, in some rare cases that includes protecting them from another parent.

My effort is to be a voice (a near lone one) which would like to turn back the trend of discounting the real need kids have to be connected to their parents by more than a birthday card.

In those cases when the parent is not healthy for the child.... that need (for that parent) still exists and serious effort should be made to find a pinch hitter.

No one is PUSHING the RIGHT COLOR past other people to ensure blacks qualify. That's a blatantly false statement. What is being done is ENSURING that prejudice does not preclude anyone from being considered objectively. You continue to make false statements to justify the unjustifiable. If the race Basketball teams had to match student body...... some very qualified Black players would be moved aside in order to place enough white players on the court.

When the Military commits to increasing the number of Blacks in the Officers corps they statistically must put some earned promotion on hold to advance the Black candidate.

It's not that the black candidate might not make a good officer, no doubt he will but to hire him first robs someone else who might be even more qualified.

If the Goal of Pepsi or the Army is to have a diverse looking company photo then these types of tactics should be used.

If the goal is to advance the best person without regard to skin color these tactics are in fact harmful as the Black who gets preferential treatment carries this stigma..... even if he earned his promotion solely on his fine performance.

Drug abuse has risen tremendously.....look at the general ages of the people that do the most damage in the crimes they commit.....as for the generation that is getting ready to become of age have you not seen and heard their inability in the most part to respect even their parents........maybe its just the stores that we shop in but its very rare to see the new generation being respectful to anyone

I'm a big believer that spanking is a tool that no other can replace. ON the rare occasion the child needs a spanking, nothing else will do quite as effectively.

For spanking to be effective the parent has to be in control of himself... to lash-out or anything like that diminishes the effect.

Yeah I know the No-spanking fad has taken hold of way too many egg heads but you see the way their kids talk to them and act in public.

One thing I found.... when you are not afraid to spank, you almost never have to do it.

When has there ever been a case where a white kid was not allowed on the team because of black kids? In fact, there are still all white basketball teams in high school. The last one, who beat their opponents, got called out for racist slurs since the other team was all black.

Let me say this as kind as I can because I think there is a reality that (in our present comfort) we rarely consider when we muse about "white decline."

Imagine if all white people were gone and every city and town were all Black right now. What would that look like?

Would Blacks be ready to step up and be the captains of industry?

Would they be able to provide the capital to run and grow an economy?... A TAX BASE to provide the same level of Gov't we now enjoy?

Who would suddenly fill the roll of neurosurgeons, Bio chemist, Nuclear scientist and pilots?

Are there possibly enough Blacks to fill the need now and what are we doing about that?

Who would develop and implement the advanced needs in science, medicine and technology.

Are there enough Blacks trained and able to design huge complex transportation centers or Air conditioning systems.... heck are there enough Blacks able to even keep what is out there now running.

Who would you call and how long would you have to wait to get a Black carpenter to build a house for you?

How many Blacks right now know how to design and build a battle ships? Or extract oil and gas from the earth of do research in aeronautics?

How many Blacks are there able to replace all those white dentists?

How many Blacks are available to design tomorrows computers or even fix your old when when no one is able to bring competitive models to market?

What percentage of Blacks know how to design or even how a satellite works, ....or even understand advanced biology, math or astronomy?

All these things around us we often take for granted, so much so that we do not take serious the need to prepare our people of tomorrow and sadly Blacks are at the bottom of that totem pole. There are not nearly enough blacks to fund the tax base or provide the knowhow to run our society as it currently exists.

Would you agree with that?

If so, why do I take this shortage more serious than you?

When whites leave, who will fill their shoes Marvin because society is run and made possible by a very small group of very skilled, very smart people who make possible all the things we take for granted like Hydro dams and chemotherapy machines possible.

then you have multiple layers of skilled people who we interact with every day who do things for us we know litte about such as rebuild your transmission or design a power grid.

No I am not afraid though I am curious what 2050 looks like.
