USCIS Address Change Error

I need some help/advice.

I am a May 2013 I-130 filer and I have been waiting 10 months for my case to be processed. After getting an RFE and submitting the required information, I got an update that said I was in the Request for Evidence Response Review (last week). Naturally, after getting an email today with a case update I assumed I was about to get an approval, only to see this message:

"Initial Review

On March 26, 2014, your address was changed relating to the I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN that you filed. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators."

I NEVER called to change my address. I don't know why this is happening. Furthermore, it looks like it has been reset to "Initial Review". In the past I've called USCIS for other issues (like why I'm waiting 10 months when promised 5 months), but not once have they been able to help me. Does anyone have any advice/information regarding this? Any thoughts? I'd appreciate any insight.

It's very common to have this happen right before a decision is made. It doesn't actually mean they changed your address. They probably did something to your case and don't have an appropriate update so that's the one they use in their computer system.

It's likely just entering information regarding your case into their systems. Since standalone I-130s are taking around a year to process then I would anticipate hearing something within the next couple of months.

This happened to me. I believe your petition is being sent to the NVC or something. I called when it happened to my I-129F petition. RIGHT after I got off the phone with them, I got the email saying it had been approved and was being transferred. By the time another officer called me back about my inquiry in regards to the address change, I had my answer- the physical location of the petition was changing.

It may not be that for you, but... that's what I experience and have seen in the past with K-1 fiance visa petitions.

Dont worry about it. I got the same message last week and called because I thought someone changed my address, but they said that sometimes you will get that message even if you havent request any change of address. So as Hypnos said is most likely due to some info they just entered into their system
