Can I Send a Police Certificate Copy?

Hi everyone! So happy this visa process is starting to speed up. My next step is sending out the supporting docs to the NVC and I know they ask for an original or certified copy of the police certificate. My husband mailed me a certified copy 2 months ago which never arrived. He lives in Romania, so mail isn't the greatest, I guess it got lost somewhere. I have a scanned copy of the certified police certificate that I printed out and planned on sending with a note on the cover letter stating that my husband will give the original at the embassy interview. I realize that I am taking a chance, but I wanted to know what you guys thought. Is there ANY chance they will be okay with that? Has anyone done something similar and had them accept the original at the interview? Please let me know, I'd appreciate any help. Thank you in advance!

I suggest use DHL or UPS to send international express mail. They are usually more fast and reliable. Sure it cost more than local post but sending important paper you want to get there safe and on time. In your case I don't think they will accept a copy if they clearly stated you can't send copy. You can surely try, but remember if you get a check list, that's extra time you have to wait. So it's your choice. I will suggest your husband get another cert copy and send again in the mean time in case they send you a check list for it.
