Question for all who live in the Seattle area

Hello everyone!

I am entertaining the possibility of a job in a small town just north of Seattle.

Can anyone give me opinions on life in Seattle? The surrounding area?

Any one live on the north side of Seattle?

My wife wants to get away from the cold here in Iowa and I would expect that its warmer up Seattle way as we just got done with weeks of below zero temps...

Thanks!!

-Phil

I'm northeast Seattle and I like Seattle in general. Been here for 9 months now. It still is cold in comparison to Philippines but nothing that a heater and layers can't fix. :-) Seattle has a high cost of living but they pay ok also. Northeast is pretty quiet and relatively safe IMO. Maybe 20 to 30 minutes from downtown and USCIS offices. Hope that works for you :-)

I'm an hour and a half south of Seattle...the cost of living is high as mentioned by emmandenn. But it's a nice area and the weather never gets too cold. In the winter it drops into the 30's, sometimes down into the 20's. We get a handful of snow days each year, if even at all, but you can drive an hour to the mountains (for snow/skiing) or an hour to the beach (although it's usually too cold to enjoy going in the water). The worst part is the gray/gloom that hangs in the sky on a near daily basis. Seriously, nine months a year of gray skies. I've lived here for 13 years and I'm used to it, but can't deny that I'm cranky in the winter. But when summer rolls around and it's only 75-80 degrees out, it's gorgeous. Great area if you like outdoors activities: hiking, camping, etc. I can't speak for the quality of schools in Seattle or the crime rate, but down where I am we have good schools and low crime. Maybe you can fly out and take a visit to see if you enjoy the area? Best of luck to you.

I live quite a distance from there {several hrs}, but have many friends that live within city limits. As stated before it is gray and gloomy most of the year also it rains, rains, rains. It may not be a sub-zero temps but rain can be a moist or damp cold...to the bones!

The warmth of true friendship and the love that binds the hearts of husband and wife are a foretaste of heaven. God has ordained that there should be perfect love and perfect harmony between those who enter into the marriage relation. Let bride and bridegroom in the presence of the heavenly universe pledge themselves to love one another as God has ordained they should. {LYL}

Thanks for the information.

The city I am thinking of moving to is north of Seattle.

About half way to Vancouver.

Everything I read about it is that its not as wet nor as cloudy as Seattle.

Just looking for some backup for what I am reading.

I live north up around Lynnwood, WA just a little south of Everett. Always room in the area for folks relocating from the snow and cold.

The coffee is good here..

I live in Silverdale, around 1 hour drive to Seattle. The city is really, I could say. Everything you need is there. People are particularly friendly. The living cost is expensive, that's true, but it's compensated well as the income is also good. The towns surrounding it are also very good. ENJOY THE FRESH AIR!

Lots of Seattleites here! Haha! If it's half way to Vancouver then that's like somewhere in Bellingham or somewhere in Mt. Vernon. Mt. Vernon is gorgeous in spring! Will be visiting the tulip festival this April. It is gloomy but the sun gets through every now and then even at fall and winter. Like others here say, summer is amazing for hikes, walks, and outdoor stuff. Not too hot and not too cold. It might snow or hail more if it's a bit north or south but not crazy. Being a Filion she might be fine with the weather. She'll love layering clothes. :)
