What is the purpose of fiancee's mailing address on I-129F?

There is a field on the I-129F that asks for the "care of" mailing address for the fiance(e). My fiance(e) will have one address for the next 3 months and has no idea where she will be yet after that. She also has no one with a stable address who can take her mail.

My understanding is that they never send anything to my fiancee - that they will call her when it is time for her interview. Is this true? If so, I don't understand the purpose of maintaining a stable mailing address for my fiancee. As it is I was planning on leaving this field blank and when she has the interview she can tell them where she has been in the interim.

Is this ok?

Do not leave the address field blank, as that is just inviting an RFE. You only leave things blank that would be answered as N/A or None. If she is not homeless, then neither of those answers apply. List her current address at the time of filing for the I-129F petition. Then when she fills out the forms for her K-1 visa interview later, she can list whatever is her current address at that time.

Some consulates do mail out letters and packets of forms and instructions to the beneficiary. Some only send an email. You would need to research how it works for your particular consulate.

Thanks for the response, Jay-Kay. Just to be clear: I would not leave the address field blank. I was going to leave the "care of" mailing address field blank. But I agree looking over the form now that this would be unwise.

But my question is basically: can the mailing address be temporary? We would like to avoid the pain of updating the address at a certain stage, since I fear it could slow us down.

Does she receive her mail through someone else's address? That is what 'in care of' means and is for. If she does not receive her mail through someone else's address, then you should leave that blank.

As I said, list her current address, then list whatever is her current address at the time she fills out the forms for her K-1 interview. No need to contact anyone about an address change that way. If there is an address where she can receive mail no matter what her residence address is, then use it as a mailing address for all the forms.

Yes, I understand now that the "care of" field should be left blank where I should fill out her mailing address. She does not receive mail anywhere else.

She will move away from the place at the end of June. Should we notify the US Consulate in Kiev when she changes her address? Or if the NOA2 has not been given by this time, should we notify USCIS? Or should we just wait until the Interview?

The NOA2 petition approval notice is mailed to the USC petitioner. She can simply list whatever her current address is at the time she fills out the forms for the interview. You could let the NVC and consulate know of her address change once the petition is approved and sent there, but I don't think it is absolutely necessary to do so. Seems like for Kiev, you contact them > http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ukraine/895/pdf/k_Instructions.pdf
