This Giuliani scandal keeps getting better and better. First Politico found that when Rudy Giuliani was mayor of New York, he billed the costs of his extramarital love trysts with Judith Nathan, his then-girlfriend and now-wife, to obscure city agencies. It was also shown that Giuliani billed his 2000 campaign expenses and his then-wife Donna Hanover's travel expenses to the same obscure agencies. The Giuliani campaign has had a hell of a time explaining the mayor's actions.

Then ABC discovered Nathan, as the mayor's girlfriend, was given a city car and police driver that she used as a personal "taxi service." Then CBS found an anonymous source who claims "Nathan forced police to chauffeur her friends and family around the city—even when she wasn't in the car."

And then the Daily News decide to pile on. They went to current mayor Mike Bloomberg's girlfriend/partner (they've lived together for six years) and asked her if she has a driver or security detail. "I don't have security in Bogota or Nairobi or Moscow when I travel there on business," Diana Taylor said. "Why would I need security in the safest city in the world?" An investment banker, Taylor takes the bus to her office and rides the subway to business appointments.

I don't have a clear candidate to name, the names mentioned at this point almost always never materialize.

The media always propels a likely candidate and they typically fall flat.

Two recent examples on the Right.

The Republican field is as splintered at this point s it hasn't been in decades. Not a single Republican polls at even 20%. Hillary polls at 60%-70% for the democratic nomination - better than she did leading up to the 2008 nomination process at this equivalent point in time. She has little opposition and thus little uniting to do. She can spend her energy for the general. And whoever is up against her will have his or her work cut out for them. I look forward to it.

Inexperience in these matter shines when you make such statements so early in the game.

Bush 1 had approval ratings in the 80's, and was thought untouchable before the hick from ARK took him (and our national honor) out.

NO I don't work in the book publishing.

I had read that nominations were based in part on having a certain number of book sales then the contest is then decided by a readers vote.

If that is not correct please clarify.

Sales at a fixed point in time, which means that a book not on the list can sell more copies than an NYT bestseller while never making the list.

It's heavily manipulated by publishers and marketers. It's not a reliable indication of how popular a book is among the general public.
