Greetings all,

I just signed up here, and wanted to say hello. My situation is.. An American man in love with a woman in Philippines. Complications are.. She was/is married (seperated for a long time), has 3 kids, and is Muslim. Due to the "no legal divorce" in Philippines, that shoots a fiance visa out the window for now. Annulment is possible, but quite expensive, and I am a struggling single person business owner (independant trucker). Also, she is getting ready to go to work abroad as a nanny, so not sure if we will be able to keep in contact.

We have been chatting online for a few years now, and I am really in love with her. We are both poor, so times have been difficult for us, but we manage to smile for each other. I know the costs will be daunting, and it will take a great deal of time, but we are both committed to being together at some point in the future.

On a lighter note.. She is 4' 11", and I am 6' 7" :wow:

I have Philippine annulment 5 years ago. I admit it costs but it will be more costly if the two parties don't agree. Luckily for me and with my case it didnt cost that much as I thought it would be, as long as it is done in a legal way. There are only 7 grounds for annulment in the Philippines. Being her a muslim, I believe that she wont be able to take her kids with her regardless is she is a devoute follower or not. The muslim law states that children (minors above 7 years old) born with muslim parents belongs to the father when parents will separate or who ever the child chooses provided that the parent chosen can provide and support the needs of the children. On the lighter note, I'm not sure if this has been changed but DIVORCE is allowed in the Philippine Muslim as what is stated on:

Presidential Decree No. 1083

"Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines"
A DECREE TO ORDAIN AND PROMULGATE A CODE RECOGNIZING THE SYSTEM OF FILIPINO MUSLIM LAWS, CODIFYING MUSLIM PERSONAL LAWS, AND PROVIDING FOR ITS ADMINISTRATION AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
As an anulled individual , I would suggest you guys to study the family Code of the Philippines as well as the Annulment Decree and the Presidential Decree stated above. You can assess the case of your girlfriend and who knows you both can marry without having to spend so much for the annulment that is not necessary after all.
Below are some links that you can check: I hope this will help you guys.
