First time poster, but just wanted to give a thanks for all the valuable information.

I followed everything as stated in various topics to get my fiancee's visa; she is from Colombia.

I started the process in October and she finally had her interview at the beginning of March in Bogota where her visa was approved. She received her packet from the embassy on the 18th, roughly two weeks after the interview. Just a few key points I wanted to share with the others.

Follow the guidelines, this link is particular useful: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Colombia&cty=Bogota.

All documentation regarding evidence I sent for my fiancee's visa application; photographs, my airline tickets, visa stamp to Colombia, all receipts from purchases I made in Colombia, ATM withdrawls, receipt for ring and photograph of it on her finger, I sent to my fiancee in a folder via DHL. She took this to her interview.

In hindsight I probably could have emailed this to her and saved 150 dollars but I was not sure she could get it printed up over there.

We went with Dr. Denis (spelling), very professional Doctor, no issues.

Vaccinations: Do not get them until you see the doctor; he will advise you; my girl did not have a shot card as it was burned in a house fire.

She explained her situation to the doctor and she only needed a couple of vaccinations. The link gives fees for that time period but the fees have gone up a few dollars in regards to the doctor visit, vaccinations and lab.

No advice on hotels, my girl has a friend that she stayed with in Bogota which cost me a hundred bucks for two weeks.

There is a form, after you pay for your interview at the Bogota Embassy Website, it has a barcode on that form; print that form up in "color." I printed up six copies for my girl and a few black and white. My girl told me someone had to go back to Barinquillia because she did not bring that form with the barcode.

The interview was very short under five minutes.
