Hi Everyone. Well its getting real close to Maries interview (Feb 22nd) and I still need to send her the affidavit of suport and other stuff. Anyway- a couple things I was hoping someone could help me with concerning the affidavit of support. To try to give you all an idea of what I am dealing with here I will try to explain whats going on.

My 2005 tax returns dont meet the guidelines because I was laid off for a long time from my job and then the company eventually shut down which left me out of work even longer with only Unemployment checks for income (almost a full year)-even with unemployment I was still real close to meeting the guideline but not close enough. So Anyway- this is my plan, along with my (I-134) I am also having my brother fill out the affidavit (I-134) to act as sort of a co-sponsor (he makes BIG BUCKS). I know that in all reality a co-sponsor isnt possible in junction with a I-134 but we are going to show it to the immigration officer anyway. My current work status is great. I have a very secure job and I am making well over the income guideline. So I also want to have Marie show the interviewer a employment letter and my bank statement so he/she will see that I can easily support Marie and prove that she wont become a public charge. If Marie goes there(Manila,Philippines) loaded with proof of support, be it from my Brother and/or me, hopefully the interviewer will not take only my I-134 (2005 tax returns) into consideration in determining proof of support, but look at the big picture instead.

My questions pertain to my Bank statement and Employment letter. They are as follows:

#1) Bank Statement- is their a specific name for this statement that my bank might be familier with so when I ask them for it they might know what I am talking about? I went to the bank today and the lady didnt know what I was talking about so I told her I would try to get more info and return on Monday.

#2) What info does the bank statement need to show- is there an example link somewhere or could someone kinda give me a general outline of how the statement should be written and what it should include.

#3)Employement Letter- I could have swore I seen a link for this employement letter. My Boss said if I write the letter he will sign it. Any ideas on how I should go about writing this letter and what it should all include.

Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to read my questions and a bigger Thanks to anyone who might be able to answer them as well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!! GarynMarie

Hi Gary,

As far as the letter from your employer, I asked our HR person to type up on our company's stationary stating that I work for the company fulltime, my social sec. number, my job title and my annual salary. That's it. Pretty simple.

As for the bank statement - as indicated by many here who've gone through the Manila Embassy - your monthly statement should be sufficient. I logged onto to my account online and just printed it out. I also got a printout of my 401k and my Life Insurance Policy.

With regard to your brother as a sponsor - either you make him an official sponsor or you don't, but I'm not sure what you meant that he's only a sponsor on the I-134 form. Make sure to double check with the guidelines here on VJ for sponsorship because as you state, last year's income doesn't meet the minimum requirements which is what they will base their decision on. It sounds like you got all your bases covered (thank God for your brother), just be sure you give them all the required documentation using your bro as a sponsor otherwise your fiancee's visa will be delayed.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

Employment letter- should be on company letterhead. include job title, length of employment, salary and if job permament.

bank letter- date account opened, total deposited for the year and present balance.

you can use checking account statements instead of a bank letter.

I'd also send some of your pay check stubs.

US Embassy Manila website. bringing your spouse/fiancee to USA
