Question about "AOS Transfer"

Hi everyone,

I am in the US on an E-3 visa, and currently adjusting status to LPR based on marriage to a US citizen.

I have some questions about the VJ immigration timeline reference to "AOS transfer". I've filled my timeline out, but left "AOS Transfer" blank, as I haven't received any notifications regarding this. What is "AOS Transfer"? I'm guessing it means date your I-485 is transferred from National Benefits Center (which is where mine ended up) to the field office (my local office is Chicago)? I also see that "not all cases are transferred."

Questions:

1) What is AOS transfer?

2) What difference does it make whether your case is transferred or not, and is this question even relevant to my application? (Adjusting from work visa, so will definitely have an interview)

3) My case status was updated to 'testing and interview' on 18 February (thereabouts); my EAD/AP have been approved. Does moving to T&I mean your case is now at the local office? If not, would I expect to see a notification of transfer *before* I can expect to see my interview scheduled? (I've been waiting for about a month for an interview date - my understanding is that Chicago is one of the longest waits for interviews - I guess I'm wondering if the fact that, as far as I can see, my case hasn't been transferred means that I still have quite a wait ahead of me before interview is scheduled.)

Thanks!
