and we like to deep fry everything......fish, cheese, broccoli......wait, thats not just a wisconsin thing is it???

Definitely not a Wisconsin thing, I can't remember what city it is (not in AL though) in the South that has some big fried festival, I saw it on TV. Fried oreos, snickers, twinkies.....it all sounds sick to me!

Fried broccoli?

i've learned that you can deep fry just about anything

Oh I'm not doubting it's possible, I just can't see how it would taste good! :P

it's all in the batter you use......

Hmm...I'm curious now! I don't have a deep fryer though so my broccoli exploration will have to wait :)

I hate universal and gerneralizations too.

but, having said that TEXAS MAKES THE BEST DAYUM BBQ.

in the south BBQ has Mustard ####### in here. whats with that?

Hmm, I think that is just a specific place to place thing, not really all of the south. The BBQ I love the most that I get in Huntsville is kind of a dry bbq (no sauce, just pulled pork with lots of spices). Lots of places do it differently I think. Never seen BBQ with mustard stuff in it!

well you are lucky not to have been subjected to mustard BBQ sauce. now come to texas

we have the Dry BBQ ribs and brisket. < dont ask me what a brisket is > all I know its

home grown on a cow.

I don't do meat still attached to bones, freaks me out :) Pulled pork BBQ is definitely my fav. You guys are gonna make me go out and get some tonight! :P

A lot of what is being said is really generalized...no matter where one is, people can have bad behavior or attitudes, not just because they live in the North or the South.

There are many southern cities with Indian restaurants(for instance), with many races mixed together, and that don't fit into the stereotype that a lot of ppl are talking about.

I'd like to know what cities people lived in that experienced such back woods behavior as people staring at short hair on women all the time...I don't doubt it happened, but it would happen in any back woods town across America and in other countries too. The North has their own type of country-folk and small rural towns...my great grandfather lived on a farm in Pennsylvania in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure that there, people would also look weird at someone who looked a bit different. And there are lots of small towns in Upstate New York too.

Sorry Sorry!! :) My favorite thing to do with chicken breasts is sprinkle a bunch of seasoned salt on them and then pop them on the George Foreman. Easy as pie and SOOOO yummy!!

There is an indian restaurant about 1/2 mile from me and I live right near a Thai one, so there is plenty of diversity that some people seem to see as nonexistant. If you're in a big city (regardless of geographical location) there is going to be more diversity, and if you're in a small one there is going to be less, North, South, East, or West. You make a good point, very similar to what I said, but it seems that once people have their ways set in hating and generalizing the South logic doesn't do much good.
